We learn that a convention met at Princeton on Tuesday for the purpose of organizing a Die trict Agricultural and Mechanical Society. Knox, Gibson, Warrick and Vanderburgh counties were represented. Nathan Plate, of Warrick, was called to tho chair, and Dr. Blair, of Gibson, appointed Secretary. All the delegates were actuated by a hearty do aire to promote the object of the meeting. A South-Western Agricultural and Mechanical Society was organized, and the following officers were elected for the present year, Tix : J. B. WILLIAMS, of Knox President. SAMUEL ORR, of Vanderburgh, Vice I President. A. B. McKEE, of Knox, Secretary. DR. O. B. GRAFF, of Gibson, Corresponding Secretary. MR. SMITH, of Knox, Treasurer. It was resolved that tho place of holding the fairs should be moveable, and held sue- I cesaively in each county in tho District, that all might share in the benefits. It was voted I to hold the first Fair for the prcsjnt year In Knox, she being tho mother r the District. Any county south ot the National Koadcan nmte itself with the Association, by electing three directors and notifying the officers of its wish to unite; and by comply- I lug with the regulations it can participate in the Society's exhibitions. The next meeting of the Association will I bo held at Yinccnnes, on the 6th day of April I next, when, the committees on the Contstitntion and By-Laws, and Premium Lists will report. Every county desirous of uniting in this important movement, should at once elect its Directors, and be represented by them I at tho April meeting. The present County I Fairs are doing a great deal of good in keeping up the proper home spirit, and ought not to be abolished. But we need an Association that shall excito a wider and deeper interest in the advancement of the two great branches of industry that are tho sources of 11 our wealth.
