ea s oiii autnonzinz ino cunairucuon oi a naval dry dock. Mr. Green's motion that the Kansas bill be made the special order of tho day to-morrow, waft taken up. Mr. Douglas asked whether tho current report was trno that Senator Steoart of Michigan and Lrodcrick of. California were read out of the part r at the Democratic caucus. Mr. Allen of Rhode Island, said he know nothing about it. The Kansas bill, after farther debate, was made the special order for Monday next. Mr. Bell of Tennessee resumed his speech from yesterday, saying, that Mr. Johnson's attack was entirely uncalled for. Mr. Johnson interrupted, disclaimed any intention of impeaching Mr. Bell's motives, or privat character. Mr. Bell expressed his surprise at snch a statement. Was his Colleague ignorant of the tenor of hi arguruenu and language? Tho attack was most offensive. IIocsz. The bill granting pension to sol-du-r of tho war of 1312, was postponed till the third Monday of March. Mr. Campbell, of Ohio, reported a bill chaining the present system for the relief of disabled seamen. The House went into Committee of tho Whole on the Indian appropriation bill. air. Crawford or uevrgia, rcierrea to tue Kansas question and explained the reasons why the peace there was disturbed, contending that the whole of the present trouble surrounding tho Kansas qnestion, originated not from anything wronj in tho Lecompton Constitution, but from a pro-determination of the anti-slavery men of tho North to dofeat the objects of tho Compromise of ISiO. Ho attributed this to tho hatred of the Republicans to slavery, and tho doctrine of self government as provided in the Kansas-Nebraska act. Wasuinotox, Feb 21 r m Senate. Bell proceeded to vindicate himseif from the charge that he had been looking f'r snpport from the North rather than tho 8outh; quoting from a letter written by him in 1340 to (Joy. Gilmer, of S. C; denied the Nebraska bill was asnhject of controversy in Tennessee in 1355. lie explained his vote on llio abolition petition, and ahowed ho took the same ground that Buchanan did, who said in the beuato that tha Aorta bad as (rood a right to interfere with slavery in, the outh, as the latter had to resist the ri jht of petiton. Washington Items' Wasuingtus, Feb. 21 r u The commissions of sixty-two postmasters, principally in the New England and Western StaU-s, including Cincinnati, expired yesterday. 3Iany of them are hore looking af:cr re-appointments, while thore i a larjanmaber sockine their places. The Cabinet had tho subject under consideration, but arrived at no conclusion, as the expectants were in formed this luoruiug at tho Postoflke Department. Senator Green will make the opening speech on Monday on tho Kansas bill; and will be lonowea oy tJoliamcrin reply. Seward will rpcuk on Tuesday. The President to-day sent to tho Senate, for confirmation, an nnusnaily large number of nominations to various oQlces, the appointments nearly all having been made daring the reccts of Congress. Tbo Administration hate, as yet, received no intimation from Dallas of his intention to vacato his mission. Alex. M. Kobinson, of Missouri, has been appointed to the Central Surintendncy of Indian Affairs, vice Gov. Cumming. Niw Yob c, Feb 24 r m Tho Waahinffton correspondent of the Times says there is a pood deal of comment on the Tact that Crovernor Hobt. J. Walker is taking auch a slight part now in the public movement against the Lecompton awindle. He saya it seems strange that be was absent from the Philadelphia and New York; meetings. There is a very well defined rumor afloat that a reconciliation ha been effected in part. between him and Mr. Buchanan; ani it is confidently assorted that the late Governor of Kansas will not be found prominent any longer in opposition to the President's policy with reference to that Territory. Another rumor is that Mr. Walker is likely to go into Government servico again, after domestic affairs become more settled. Fire. BziDcxroKT, Conn.
