The celebration on Saturday passed off in a manner highly creditable to all concerned. The procession formed a short time before the -advertised hour and marched to the depot. The firemen made a handsome appearance, and they were followed by citizens and the ' draymen of the city on horseback, with six drays loaded with flour, whisky, tobacco, &c. The children did not turn out as anticipated. . The exercises at the depot were opened with prayer by the Bew. Mr. Sabin, followed by a national song from the choir. Yankee Robinson's band was in Attendance and dkcourso J excellent music. The Declaration of Independence was read by Bly the nynes, Esq., and Mr. Saxo was introduced by Jno. Ingle, Jr. lie made a few remarks appropriate to the day, and proceeded to recite bis poem on Yankee Land." ' Those who heard it were delighted with the wit that sparkled in every line. A part of the audience were unable to hear but a part of the poem, owing to the disturbance created at one end of the depot around a couple cf refreshment stands, which the committee " had permitted to bo erected there.- Nearly one third of the poem was omitted. The 10:50 A. M. train brought down a tre- , menduous crowd of country people, and the street were thronged until the departnre of . the evening train. , The shows were crowded daring the afternoon and evening, and every one seemed to enjoy the day to the utmost. .No accident occurred to mar the pleasure of the occasion. A few men ahot in thenetk, but tliey are recovering rapidly. It i a subject of congratnlation that the day was so generally observed. Moft.of the business ho.c of the city were closed, and every one took a part in celebrating the day. The Celebration at fat ok a. The Tic-nic exenraion to Patoka on the" 4th wm a delightful affair. Two car load left ' the depot at C o'clock, for the ground-, well provided with eatablea and drinkable. . The Evanavirle BmaBand waain attendance and discoursed excellant music. The exercwes on the occasion were the reading of the Declaration by Mr. Tileston and the delivery of an : mddresa by Maater Wm. Da vtaon. The day was pasted in the wood and at srenin j thi train brought tho party ,to tho city. Th Ciacca To dat. Onr citiaena will have another opportunity of "sight seeing" to-day. The Great American Circus will arrive on the ateawier Orient, and give two performances on Water Street. We have heard this company spoken of in the highest terms ' aa being one of the best now traveling.
