My object was to give greater strength to tho work, and not to embarrass it. I am a heavy stockholder, for my means, having over twenty thousand dollars of stock all psid ont,and I, otherwise, feel a deep interest in the success of tho en terprise; perhaps it is too near my heart. It maybe possible that I havo misjudged the wishes of your city, as you ugget, but I think not. I could willingly sjnd the remaining energies of my life, as well us give to the work my individual credit and mean4 to insure its success, coulJ I recei ve the united id and support of the stockholders at homo, who should stand by tho work; but I ought not to be expected by any friend of the road to continue to struggle with tho external tlements, growing out of the adverse times, and at the same time contend with the heavy, controlling stockholders at home. FOB SALE A VAL XI ABLE TI2A CT OFZAXD, Adjoinns the Town of ConneltonI Consisting of aNmt one hundred jtcres, one-half of which is bottom land, and the remainder extends into the delightful hills that border the town. All of it is embraced in plat of the town of Cannelton, and is in demand for house lots. The lower boundary of the tracts is not more than ten minutes walk from the extensive Cotton Factory and principal coal mines. All the pcluct of the land can be sold on the soil to the people of the town. It is most admirably situated for vegetable gardeus for which the town affords a good market and high prices. The land will eventually all be wanted for house lots. On the premises are three dwellings, one of which is worth Ij00; another Is worth U00; the other a beautiful cottage residence, cost a jOO three years ago to erect it. Either of these houses can be hail with the land, or all of them, as the purchaser may wuh: they are separated by a street from the body of the land, and are on separate lots laid off fur resi dences. The property w ill be sold on a libenU credit to a responsible purchaser. The location is one of the most delightful on the Ohio river, and the principal cottage with three acres In garden and frnit is the most beautiful rural residence between here and Louisville. The chief motive for offering it for sale, is that the property is too valuable to rent, and needs more attention than the owner can at present bestow on it- Address or apply to the editor of the Journal; Evansville. mr2 SALE OF VALUABLE REAL ESTATE!
