To upbraid such a man with faithlessness and corruption, in rendering a decree that he knows will stand for ages, and be subjected to the criticism of the acutest minds and highest moral tests of men that shall come after him, is to presume a degree of depravity and folly that is an outrage upon our feelings as men, and a libel upon our nature. WILLIAM KERSTUMAX." Extra S&ssio.wThe New Albany LeJgcr, one of the leading Democratic organs,' has the following remarks upon the condition of the affaire of the State, and the necessities of an extra session: The deplorable condition, into which the Clack Republican Senate, by failing to pass the revenue, tne general appropriation, and' the appraisement bills, has plunged tho State, is well known to every reader, and it is unneces sary to decant at length upon the subject. U e. have no law by which taxes can be col lected, no law br which even the funds how in the treasury can be law full r applied to the " w a payment of demands against the State; no law by whicli the vast quantities öf lanls which hare been brought into cultivation during the last few years can be taxed at their true value, thus imposing npon old and worn out lands more than their just proportion of burdens. Although an etibrt was made by a few of the defenders of tho Republic!;' Senators to show that tho taxes might bo collected unJer the former revenue law, we believe that idea has been abandoned by the few who prorcssed to entertain it, and it is now universally conceded that without further, legislation not a dollar of taxes (br State purposes can be collected during, the ensuing two years. Unless, then,: money can be raised from some other source to carry on the State Government, it must cither bo dusolvul- or officers must work without piy; the interest on the State debt for at least ono year must go unpaid, ana our crea tors, aireaay cnarging us with bad faith in the matter of the Wabash and Erie canal, will hare another cause of complaint against us; and. to cap the climax of disasters, the various benevolent institu tions of the State wi I hare to be closed and their hundreds of inmates turned out, many of. them to. hardships anl 'suffering all of them to their own and the community's misfortune.
