07" We were informed yesterday by Dr. M. J. Bray Surgeon of the Marine Hospital, that this benevolent Institution is daily dispensing its charities to the marine patients, with a most liberal hind. The average number of patients for some time past has been about ten. Patients are received and dischar- . ged nearly every day, many of whom aro in a j rery suffering condition when they enter, both , from destitution and disease. The grounds .'surrounding the building will be greatly improved and decorated the ensuing season which ; Trill render the Hospital one of the inoßt or- . namental as well as.uieful institutions of tha city. Mr. Dayton arrived at Indianapolis on Frday, and was cordially greeted by all parties. F.r the Journal. Miu Cahlii.e: On the first page of this morning's Journal, I li:id an erroneous article on 'Uible Revision," which I ask permission to correct. Allow me to call your attention to tvro or three points in that article: An I first: "The Bible revision, it is nowr believed will prove 'unsuccessful under the arrangement by which it has been undertaken." Who believes this? . rrobably some sectarian spirits would love to believe it. Rut all who have a proper acquaintance with the progress of this enterprise are quite sanguino of its final success. ' I im happy in being able to inform rour . readers that the work of Rible revision is 0ing bravely on, notwithstanding the slight obstacles which have been thrown in its way. . The second point to which I call atteuion . if embraced in the following language: "It is charged against the project that in tho vUnited States it has been on foot and received the sanction of only certain sects who - - 1 !. t . auppuseu mat iLeir own peculiar views would be advanced bv chaninx the word JJ iplism to Immersion; the latter beirg as they contend, the true English word for the origi nai erra in tne scriptures." in answer to this rharge, I wish to inform those who aro uninformed, that the WWAa revision enterErise, in the United States, is 'Kanctioned,, T nine different denominations cf ecmjelual Christian, among whom aro Jfeiolitts, L'pit' cnpalians anl Prefyteriant. In this enterprise then, we have tho harmonious cooperation of different denominations of Christians. Rut again, "It is charged that incompetent inert have beei employed in the translation tnd revision." Now, sir, to invalidate this charge, I am fully prepared to state, that the Hoard of Revisers is composed of the best men and most competent and thorough scholars of this age. IoTiew of these facts. ou;ht there to be ny objections alleged against tba Uil.I revision movement which is the great work of we nineieenui ccnturr, r D p, March Cth, 1857. RIVER INTELLIGENCE. The Riven continues falling alout a foot j per day at thispotnt; also falling at same rate at all points above. OrThe Fmpirc lay at our wharf all day yesterday, loading for New Orleans. Ono item in her freight, consisted of 2ÖÜ hhd3. tobacco. (tr The A rkanvr Traveller, arrived veiterday fram Cincinnati, with a paitial load of j merchandise fortius city, and various points cn the Wabash. OT Tho blow on Friday night, on the lower Ohio River wa so severe as to iwarap a number Hit boats with cirgocs that were lying at tho shores; and we are told, the Uni'cd States' Mail, that was very heavily loaded, on her passage up, was for a short time unmanageable! in the wind, arid her violent, rolling and pitch-' ing' in the waves, created a pocd de?l of alarm among Her passengers. iut. me puoi untiiy recovered his control of the boat and safcly landed her. ' 07 Tho Xorthernsr passed down on Saturday evening for Memphis, loaded to the guards. The success of this popular lins of Packets between Louisville and Memphis, illustrates the influence of packet line in ! creating trad j between the points they connect. Cincinnati first formed a line to Memphis, and took most of the trfade to herself; and when louisville put on her lino there appeared but little for it to do; but the facilities created by the line for intercourse soon produced a trade, and we are now told the line cannot do the freighting business pressing on it. The Xorthernsr had G00 tons of freight olTered her more than she could take on her present trip; and her net earnings on her last trip were about $1,800, showing what good management and popular officers can do. She will be up airain on Wednesday evening. Lolm.svii.lk Canal Closed. We learn tint one of the walls of the Louisville Canal has fallen in, and stoped the use of the Canal. It will take, we are 'told, two or three days to repair it.
