He is an Old Liner and knows the politics of New York thoroughly. CCJ" The new block just erected on Main street, near Water, is decidedly the handsomest row of buildings in the city. There are four store houses. Each store has two large show windows, and each window composed of four large panes of glass. These rooms will soon be ready for occupancy, and we believe they are all engaged. Candidates for Congress. No domination has as yet been made in the V 10th district by cither party. 0r"A correspondent sends us a cluh of sub- ; Bcribers from Monrovia, Morgan county, and writes as follows: Are the Fillmore electors in Indiana going to do their duty? If so, be- . fore November rolls around there will be the l' greatest reformation in Indiana that has ever been experienced in the same time. The peoI pie in this county are anxious to see the friends ? como up to the work. There aie. in this vicinity, a large number of persons who have been, r" heretofore, for Fremont and for Buchanan, who are now favorable to Mr. Fillmore." Another correspondent writing from North Madison, Jefferson county, under date of Au-i'--gust 2d, (and enclosing a large list of subscribers)says: ,-0ne month ago 1 thought I was -- alone, but now I can find that there are Fillmore men on every side of me. 1 find they arc coming over to the right side every day. Fillmore will certainly get a large vote in this ' county, notwithstanding all that is said by tho Fremont men." Another correspondent writing from Corydon, informs us that the friends of Mr. Fillmore in that section are in h'gh spirits since the recent American State Convention. A great many thinking tnat there would be no Fillmore electoral ticket, had determined to vote for Fremont. Now they will go heart andsnul for Mr. Fillmore. We are receiving letters every day similar in spirit to the above. The strength of Mr. Fillmore in Indiana is wofully miscalculated by his opponents. N. A. Trib.
