Q7" The Cincinnati Enquirer says Brooks tiliould have gone to the place designated, even if he had to pass through two lines of abolitionists, every one with a dngger or pistol, for the whole distance, and with twenty fourpounders stationed at each end." The Enquirer says the dispute has taken a very an tatinactory turn. Real Estate Sale The sale of real cs täte by John Ingle. Jr., yesterday, brought very fair prices for the times. The 38)4 foot on First street, above Walnut, brought $1, 300; 50 feet, on Second street, above Walnut, brought 1,430; the Post Office lot and buil ding brought $2,600. The other piece advertised was withdrawn. The Eight Talk. The editor of the New Albany Tribune de"fends himself from the charge of favoring Buchanan by supporting Fillmore and says: And have we not a right to support Mr. Fillmore without subjecting ourself to the charge of indirectly favoring Mr. Bucnanan's lection? May we not just as well retort on the fr ends of Mr. Fremont, and charge them with indirectly laboring t bring alwut the same result? Mr. Fillmore was regularly nominated and in the field as the opposition candidate long before Mr: Fremont was seriously thought of, except by a few political tock-jobbers of N'cw York. And why should ho now be ruled ott" the track, to make way for another who is in every respect his superior? Answer us that, if you please. We are as much opposed to the election of Mr. Buchanan and the Locofoco ticket in la diana, as Mr. (Jreely is, and so are nine tenths of tho American party in this State. And if the Fremonters can be induced to postpone the claims of their favorite for four years, and .join us now in thdupport of Mr. Fillmore, the defeat of Buchanan will be rendered certain in November next. If however they prefer defeat to a temporary postponement of Mr. Fremont's claims, be it so. The responsibility of the thing rests upon tbe.r own shou - ders. Destructive Fire Loss $80. 000. About " 7 o'clock last evening a fire broke out in one -of the four-story buildings on Second street, between Main and Water, owned and occupied as a warehouse by Brady & Davis. There were in it about 80) coils bale rope, 250 peices bagging, 8'0 hams, a lot of bacon in casks, whisky, etc. Messrs. B. & D. were insured to the amount of 635,000, which will fully cover the loss. The fire then spread to tho threo warehouses South, two of which were owned and -occipied by Messrs. Wallace, Lithgow & Co., for the storage of stoves and other articles, all -of their own manufacture. The buildings also contained all the patterns of their extensive foundry. Everything in them was lo-st. Their foundry, immediately in the rear of the warehouses, was only saved by the extraordinary and well-directed efforts of the fire department. Messrs. W. & L. last, $37,000, on which they had an insurance of oaly 12,000. From tho well known enterprise and means of tbe firm, we dare sav, that, nothwi Iks-landing their hsavy loss, much finer buildings wiil soon ,Jtake the place of those destroyed. 'The fourth warehouse was owned by Mr. Kegwin. of Jeffersonville, and occupied by Messrs. Pitkin & Bro., for the storage of agricultural implements. Their loss is bctweea $1,500 and $2,000, which is fully covered by insurance. Wo presume Mr. Kegwin had also an insurance upon the building, which was valued at 1,000. 1 he losses are pretty equally divided between the home and foreign otii-C3-J. f Lou. Jo'ir., Gth.
