——We are indebted to Capt. Spotts, of the Niagara, for New Orleans papers of the 5th. Capt. S, has laid the Niagara up at Paducah, and is now returning home to rusticate. His crew was with him on the Saracen. ——The river is slowly receding all the way up, with about three feet and a half in the canal at Louisville, and the same amount on Scuffletown. We expect another rise if the rains of the past few days were general. ——The Northerner and Fashion, under command of Captains Triplett and Reed, passed up Saturday to Louisville. They intend, if possible, to make Louisville their summer quarters, in preference to Paducah ——The St. Louis and New Orleans packet Falls City, has been making some extraordinary trips this season, all of them coming within six days. On her last trip she made the run in five and a half days, with 500 tons freight and 227 passengers. ——A heavy robbery was committed at New Orleans, on Tuesday the 1st, on board of the steamboat David Gibson, on a person named Charles Freckermann, who was working on her. It appears that he had $2,027 in Wheeling (Va.) paper, and was foolishly bragging about the matter during the trip. Having fallen asleep with this amount under his head, he was speedily deprived of it, as was suspected, by four of the crew who had been arrested for the robbery, at last accounts. ======= BY TELEGRAPH.
