Accoruingtothe testimony the German had just before been aggravated by some impudent boys, but the attack on the two injured, who were alone was unprovoked. This is as it was stated at the trial b) witnesses; of course we have no other source of information. Miller waa fined $15 and costs. , ..- -'. RIVER IIVTEIXIGEXCE. , f ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES. Hondat. Jon 2. Southerner, from St. Louis to Louisville. Anawan. from Wabash te Oineiaaati.' -; Jaoob Poe. from Nashville to Cineiaaati, Jese Legear. from Whits River to Ciaoianati. B. Green, from Green River to Evansville. Jacob Trad el, from Dubuque to Cincinnati.
There is 8 feet water reported from Louisville to this place, and 9 feet to the mouth. . The Eclipse wa3 pretty hard aground al Casey ville last Sunday, but was lightened by one of the packets and got off. Two flat boats from Green River, laden with tobacco, were ' unloaded at the upper wharf yesterday. . The Fashion passed down Sunday morning with a good trip to St, Louis. We thank Mr. Clark for a package of papers. ; ? ; - The river is reported falling at all points above. Falling here yesterday, and no prospect of an immediate rise. The fast Memphis packet Wm. Garvin may be expected here early this morning for Memphis. She is an excellent boat, with a gorgeous cabin, and first-rate accommoda tions in every way, and clever officers. The splendid Robert J. Ward was at our wharf Sunday night from New Orleans, havins left that citv on the evening of the 27th. She was only out about four days and nine or ten hours. About the best or second best trip of the season. . The Wabash still continues in a mis erably low condition, with no prospect of an immediate rise, more than heretofore there has always been a J,une rise in that stream. An old pilot says he never knew the Wabash to be in so miserable a condition but once be fore, at this season, and that was a long time ago. ..: A couple of steamers were stuck in the canal at Louisville all last Friday, preventing other boats from getting up loaded with Cincinnati Convention delegate. There was some about as hard swearing before the Con vention, at the Lanat, as there will be among some of the returning delegates after the Convention. The ditch is soon to be closed for cleaning out, enlarging, &c. The Gov. Powell had adifficulttime in reaching Terre Haute. , She got within eight miles, and although she had a lighter, was compelled to put out part of her freight to reach Terre Haute ; , She started down light, and dragged over the bars for some distance, breaking her rudders several times. After getting two miles below York, she gave up, tho task of getting down till a rise comes. ' ' Yesterday we gave an item about the, Anawan, not knowing at the time she was sunk. She struck a rock at Block's cut-off, in the Wabash.'last Monday, and sunk in four , feet water. She was from Terre ' Haute, loaded with corn, &c, for Cincinnati. ' She is probably raised by this time. " V Since writing the above, the Anawan arrived from the Wabash, looking like a live boat, and we hope destined for a ; long and lucky career. She was smart in sinking in the Wabash instead of the Ohio. She was here yesterday afternoon. " The Pittsburg Dispatch of Friday says; Our rivers have been receding steadily until they have reached a stage that has compelled the large Cincinnati packets to withdraw. Their places, however, have been supplie 1 by a superior light draught boats so that freight will meet with no detent'on. ' The Fatal Affaiii at Bayou Sara. We learn from the officers of the Flj-ing Cloud the following particulars respecting the encounter at Bayou Sara, between Messrs. Robertson and Marks, reported in our tclegrapuic intelligence yesterday. : . , It took place inside the Post Office on Sun day morning, between Mr. Robertson, editor of the Chronicle, and two brothers, J. i.. Marks, editor of the Bayou Sara Ledger, and Leon D. Marks, lawyer of bhreveport. Kob ertson was killed, the brothers shooting him several times. J. R. Marks was slightly wounded in the head by a pistol ball fired by Robertson. J. R. Marks, who gave himself up to tho proper , authorities, , is now in jail; the other brother made his escape; ? . ' " Considerable excitement prevailed in Bayou tsara up to the time the D lying' oioua leit. . . .. :. N..o.Pic.,'rah. . . ,t . 1. O J . " THIRD DISPATCH. , - Cincinnati, June 2. The Convention met at 12 o'clock with full delegates from all the States. Sam Medary, of Ohio, was appointed temporary chairman, and on being conducted to the chair, returned his thanks for the honor thus conferred. About this time a great rush and noise was heard at the steps of the hall, and persons ascending ntoit. lhe door keeper was thrust aside, and the Price Delegates from Missouri entered the hall, some of them with clubs in their hands,: and claimed their right to seats in the Convention against the decision of a corrupt committee of arrangements. . For a moment there was great confusion, and members left their seats apprehensive of a general row. Order was restored and the intruding dele gates took seats separate from those as dele gates from Missouri. ; ,; In the proposition for the appointment of a committee on credentials, the right of the Price delegation to seats as.ain came up. As the States were called, A. W. Lamb was named as the member ' from Missouri. Gen. Price " rose and called the attention of the Convention to the fact, that under the terms of the resolu tion no member should be named from Mis souri, inasmuch as tho scats of the recognised delegates was contested. ,' Mr. Richardson, of 111., referred to the in suit which had been offered to the Convention by the intrusion of the contesting delegates and hoped the Convention would protect itself from outrage. "'';..' . The President suggested to the contending delegates that the proper place to settle this question was before the committee on creden tials,, and with kind feelings advised them to take this course. : - : - The name of Mr. Lamb was then withdrawn and th delegation rotirod to the lobby. v A committee on permanent organization was then appointed. -The two delegations of New York were excluded by the committee on arrangements, and the question will come up before the Convention.' A committee ou credentials and another on permanent organization were appointed Mr. Hallott moved that a committee on platform be appointed, to whom all platform resolutions be referred without debate. (Confusion.) : ' The Chair decided it to be tabled, but on the yeas and nays being called it carried. 8-t to 177.
