The watch was really worth $1,50 or $2,00, but the chap expected to swindle some of the unsophisticated out of 815 or 20 with it. : The Marshal arrested Morris between 9 and 10 o'clock Thursday evening, just as he was stepping from Mitchell's wharf-boat on to :a steamer. The fellow's pockets were filled with cheap jewelry, and he claimed to be pedlar under a general license for all the States. ' He was taken before the Recorder, but bein unable to make out a State case against him, i he was fined $5,00 and costs for violating the pedlar's license ordinance. " CCrJ. The Highflyer will be here to-night or to-morrow morning from St. Louis. : The Adriatic ascended the Louisville Falls last "Wednesday though the Indiana chute. This is considered a remarkable feat when there is only 5 feet water in the ' chute. A gentleman of South . Carolina pur chased at Louisville $28,000 worth of provis ions, which he shipped on the juvenile Eclipse for Nashville, thence by the Chatanooga railroad South. S. government. Dispatches have been received at Cin cinnati announcing the total annihilation of Dam No. 2, on the Monongahela River, effect ing the bulk of coal-boating interests serious ly. The disaster is attributed to the break ing up of the ice on the resumption of navi gation. . As this is the Rainbow's regular day, she will of course be down this afternoon, and return in the evening to Louisville. Last trip she started with a good many passengers from this place, and was doubtless crowded before her arrival at Louisville. She is a popular boat.
