Our City. Wo never before saw such activity in Kv-1 ansvillo. Tho wharf, the cau.il, warehouses and railroad depot are all alive, receiving ' and shipping. This, with tho present mar- j kets, id wonderful. Our wharf for the last ; two days has presented a throng of steamboats ' Keldom or ever witnessed before. worst wounded man had to be carried into Court to give his testimony. Notwithstanding there was not a single mitigating circumstance, yet the Jury sentenced this man to only three months imprisonment with a fine of one dollar ! So one dollar, and three months imprisonment in the County Jail, may be set down as the whole cost of shooting into a crowd of men like a bevy of quails, so he does not wound more than three men or kill more than one. Valüable Property kor Sale. The sale of real estate of the Mitchell estate at the Court House, to day, at 2 o'clock, T. The St. Louis Intelligencer of Thurs day says: The river at this point continues to riae, and is nearly bank full to Cairo. The Upper Mis sissippi is naing, with full five feet water on the Rapids. The Missouri and Ill'nois are both swelling, and in fine navigable order. The Switzerland and Ben Bolt, down yesterday morning from Cincinnati, at the same time, were literally too crowded for com fort with passengers, who had scarcely walk ing room on account of the furniture and plun"T here were a great many emigrants on board of both boats. The following rates of freight prevailed at Cincinnati day before yesterday. The Arago brings 130 passengers; among them Hon. James Buchanan and Henry Dubois, Minister from Holland to the U. S. The Arago had moderate weather, and came around the Banks. She saw no ice. The two English steamers that went in search of the Pacific, had retuned to Gaiway, after nine days' fruitless cruise. The proceedings in the Peace Congress still continued. It is said that A ustria gives trouble by persistently refusing to fix a time for evacuating the principalities her pretext is the necessity for protecting tho country against disorder until a regular administration is established, although she is bound to quit the Ottoman territory on the conclusion of peace. Russia is strongly averse to the Austrian position. Later news, however, states that the Austrian troops wore leaving the Principalities. The French army is to be reduced torn 600,000 to 400,000 troops. It is believed that Russia will send an Ambassador to Truin as soon as ratifications are exchanged.
