Important from Kansas Excitement at Leaven

worth City Bioting House Burning and

jail .Breasting.

, "YVe stated, yesterday, that on the 15th inst,

while the voting on the lopeka Constitution was going on, the election at Leavenworth

City was interrupted by the Pro-Slavery men,

in consequence of which soma outrages occured. A private letter was received at Lexing

ton, from Leavenworth, on the 22d, which

gives further particulars about the affair.

, A collision had taken place between the Pro .and anti-Slaverv parties, which resulted in the

destruction of the ballot box, and an entire interruption of the voting. During the excite

ment, one house was burnt, belonging to a

nnember of the anti-Slavery party. Ihis act

of burning was charged on a Pro-Slaverv man

whom tho Abolitionists succeeded in arresting

and confining in jail. The friends of the pris

oner rallied, broke open the jail, and then

burnt it to the ground.

These proceedings had produced an intense

"excitement at the place on each side. The

Anti-Slavery men had sent to Lawrence for

re-isforcemenls, and the Pro-Slavery men,

also, had requested and sent for aid. , The above is the substance of the letter re

ceived at Lexington, which is from a source

says the Lxpress, strictly reliable. St. Louis News, 2dth.
