These safes have obtained auch a world-wide notoriety that nothing new can be added in their favor. Call and see them. Watches axd Jewelry. We call attention to Messrs. Duhme &. Their establishment is at Cincinnati, and they are prepared to sell Watches, Jewelry, Specticle glasses, Watchmakers Tools, &c &c, as low as they can be purchased East, and others interested in the article offered (or sale at this house, would consult their interest by visiting Messrs. Duhme & Co. uivr.u ITEMS. - Thr river wa boomia lull yesterday, and large quantities of drift passing down. Dispatches in yesterday's Journal gave notice of a heavy rise at Tittsbarph and Cinrinnatl on the op of the present. The boaom lands are in ome places already partially overflowed. The flriver was rising here yesterday, and must continue to rise some feet more. The Wabash has been Thins last ihe last fcwdays. The Vincennes patriot of Saturday: the 17th says: The Wabash ha been risin; all week anil was coming up rapidly yesterday evening. It may overllow its banks, as much rain has fallen in the last few days, with considerable snow on Thürs lav night which had .til disappeared yesterday evening. T..e Terre Haute Courier of the 17th says: The Wabah i in fine navigiMe order lor large sizs steamboats and flailoaf. A number of steamers have beei. at our wharf dm ing the week. Several fl.iiboats have starred fur the South. The weather ha a rainy and snowy tendency and we may exp.'ct asiili greater rise in the liver. The J. M. Stock-well has gone up the Wabash with a full loidof freight for different points from New Orleans. From the latest accounts, sh will have no difficulty in getting up, or down again with a full return trip. The boys on board might as well come down by lAe cars and see ns. The Yerktown secured a full freight ol pork, &c. up the Wabash. She got a large portion of it at Viocenues. The fine steamer Empress, which has heen high and dry aground in the Mississippi, for the last three months, passed up on Sunday Mording tor Lcuisvilel. It is surmised by some of our river men that she has been somewhat injured, or "hogged" as they call it, but we ex pect that the worst injury sustained was to her "Treasury dep&rttnent," as we learn that her expenses are not much short oi'3100 per day. News of the suspension of Page, Bacon & Co. was received at San Francisco on the 17lh, causing a great run on the house, which was met. They paid half a million. A meeting of the merchants and bankers declared the house sound, which restored confidence, and affairs seemed to wear a better aspect.
