The steamer Latrobe wat sank a few days ago nine miles below Pittsbu rgh. The sinking of the splendid steamer Jas Robb, as reported by us yesterday, is verified. She sank last Monday. The Cincinnati Commercial of Tuesday says: A dispatch was received from St. Louis, yesterday, by Thomas Sherlock, announcing the sinking of the steamer James Robb, at Devil's Island, in the Mississippi, 50 miles above Cairo. Boat and cargo a total loss. The dispatch does not state whether the boat was bound up or down. The James Robb was built here three years ago, and was owned entirely, we understand, by Capt. H.Carroll, of this city. She was worth about $30,000, with no insurance. Freights at Cincinnati for New Orleans, last Tuesday, are thus quoted: Whisky, 90c; pork, 70c; flour, 50c; pound freights, 30a35c. The Duke passed down Wednesday evening. She is one of the Cincinnati and N. Or leans Star Line Packets, and a star in that line. The Duke had a full cargo when she left here, and a respectable number of passengers. We are under obligations to Joe Avery, clerk, for papers. The river was stationary yesterday. A rise is expected to-day. Weather delightful. The Evansrille and Henderson packet Eddie Kerr met with another accident day before yesterday, a few miles above Henderson. She broke her main shaft, letting her fly-wheel into the hold of the boat. She was towed up by the Louisa for repairs, and is now lying at the wharf. The Alvin Adams was at the wharf yesterday crowded with passengers. She left N. Orleans on the 14th. The Queen cf the West arrived here yesterday morning with a barge in tow. heavily laden. She was 34 hours making her way through the Louisville ditch. After taking on 500 sacks corn here she went on her way rejoicing. We learn from the St. Louis Evening Jfews, that the forward guards of the Robb ate oat of water, her stern is took to the cabin Uoor, and she will probably be a total loss.
