'To-morrow, Thursday, Not. 30th, has been appointed by the Governor of Indiana, as a day of general thanksgiving. The Governors of a number of other States, have appointed the same day for the same purpose. God will be worshipped to-morrow, in hundreds of churches in this happy republic, and thanks returned him by thousands of people, for the multitude of blessings showered upon them and theirs. Among the churches and Christians of the State, to-morrow will be as a Sabbath day, though appointed by man. According to immemorial custom, printers do not work on Thanksgiving Day, and con- . sequently there will be no paper issued from this office the day after, Friday. Let advertisers and others take notice and govern themselves accordingly. Tbe lies; Question. Presuming that the larger portion of our readers are more feelingly interested in the solution of this question, at the present time, than most any other upon which we might assume to enlighten them, we have carefully collected the latest and most reliable statistics and opinions of dealers, at various points, for the benefit of all whom it may concern, lhis subject becomes the more important in this than in former years. because it is surrounded with at least some unusual circumsunees.which'renderanvdefinlie or correct solution of the future market value of this great staple commodity of the West, extremely difficult. The impressions which have been so complacently indulged, that a large foreign demand would be created for this leading staples of American produce, by the continu ance of the European war, appear to have been thus far erroneously founded. The re ported large "grain crops in the producing districts of Eprope, lhe yield of the Isst har test, forbids our hoping for any extraordin ary foreign call, consequently we must look at home for the causes which are to influ ence and govern tbe prices of our own pro duce. But few contracts have as yet been a made for that purpose anywhere: We observe some sales have been made in Ken tucky, ranging from $4 to $5 for heavy corn fed hags, while light pork and maat fed fell from 50 to 75 cents below those figures. Much the same figures rule in Cincinnati. In Illinois and Missouri we have observed no contracts to exceed 84. There is but three Banks in the State whose paper is uncurrent, and they are better secured than one half of the balance. These banka are the Northern Indiana Bank at Logsctport, the Elkhart County Bank, and the Bank, of Connersville. The Northern Indiana Bank is secured by $91,000 in Indianas percent. These latter stocks were received by the A uditor at 55 cents on the dollar. Who can doubt the security of the bank, with such stock as a basis! The Connersville Bank is secured principally by Indianas per cents, $190,000 Indi ana 2$ per cents, $12,000 Indiana 5 per centa Bank bonds, and $31,000 Ohio 6 per cnt Canal bonds. This bank has authorized the Auditor of State to deliver up to bill holders its stocks at their market value, when presented in quantities of $1,000. The owners of this Bank are responsible men, although ore of them has been somewhat embariassed by the failures of the Cincinnati banks.
