Railroad, arc lying on the wharf awaiting reshipment up the road. The canal boat II. G. Ford, nnder command of Capt. Shook, will leave Wednesday afternoon at t o'clock for Petersburgh, to convey delegates to the Convention. She is a good boat, and will take passengers through in ten hours. She will start from the Main street briilge. The Fawn on her last trip up ran ever snag which caused her to leak. She got to Louisville, however, where she went into dork. This, we believe, is the first accident the Fawn ever met with, and it is light. The Belle Quigley was chartered to tike her place last trip, but did not arrive till Sunday morning. The Cumberland river is reported very low, with only two feet on bar. Thete was no regu'ar mail packet last Sunday in place of the Crystal Palace The mails arrived here on the Gazelle, about 9 o'clock in tlie evening. The Hoosier State passed up Sunday morning, two days behind her regular time. She had met with delaya by burning out boilera, &c. Yesterday was her regular day from Louisville. The regular Louisville and St. L uis daily packets are nearly all thrown out ol their regular days by low water, &c. The White River arrived yesterday afternoon from Green River with a good freight of tobacco. The price of fare by steamboat between Cincinnati and Louisville has been put down to $1. That" low enough, surely. The David Gibson, with a barge in tow, arrived here Sunday afternoon from Cin cinnati, having considerable freight. The bodies of the dead are crushed in an awful manner. It is reported that Madison Jefterds had died of his injuries. Nearly all the passengers killed and wounded beluiio to this city. Twenty-four dead bodies were brought in from the scene at midnight. An inqjest has been held over the victims and no verdict yet been rendered. It is now learned that the number of deaths will reach fortv( aa many of the wrund ed are lying in mot dreadful agony, and can not possibly Burvive much longer. The railroad company are loudly censured, and the most intense excitement prevails tlirooghout the city. Third Dispatch. Mr. Jefferd is still living but he will probably expire before evening, fie was much esteemed. Several additional deaths ocurred this morning; a number of others wounded have been brought to the city. They are mostly of the poorer classes of society, und the scene on their arrival was heart-ren-Jin'r. On the first rumor of the accident last evening, thcusands congregated at the depot to hear the result and, as the particulars Cime in, the most d:eadfui shrieks and cries rent the air. The accident was no doubt the result of carelessness. qie inquest is stilt pending. Baltimore, July 7. The to'al number of deatha from the rail road accident is 32, and 3 or 4 are in a very critical condition. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Prrk Winchester, superintendant of the road. It is rumored that he resigned this morniujr. The accident is now attributed mainly to the recent removal of a competent and experienced president and superintendent for political opinions and appointing political friends successors who were inexperienced. i' o i, it i: s i o t l . Mr. Gillett presented the resolutions of the Legislature of Connectieut on the subject of slavery, censuring Mr. Lowry for his vote for the Nebraska bill and repeal of the M asouri compromise. Mr. Lowry defended his course and reviewed the legislation of the mnjjrity of the Connecticut Legislature on the subject of slave ry. He accepts the vole of censure aa the highest complirnhnt which could be paid him by that majority Mr. Giilett responded warmly, condemning the fugitive sk.te law as clearly unconstitutional. Mr. Toucy responded. House. The Houie passed a number of amendments to the General Appropriation bill, including appropriations for the completion of custom-houses at various poinTs west and south-west.
