J7Aswe have rc-daced our prices lately in many kinds of work, while tbe prices of material and labor have gone up. our terms for Job Work are invariably CAfcH 0 DELIVERY OF WORK. Court is still in session, but nothing of general interest occurrine. The case of Ross vs. steamer Eclipse, for sinking a stone boat, for which $300 damages were claimedt has been decided, gi ing plaintiff $66 damages. The jury practiced the "marking system," as it is called. We acknowledge the rereipt from Mr. A. Kurtz, proprietor of the new Confectionary, of some elegant specimens of cakes and also a bottle of cordial of his own tilling both good evidences of his e.xperi ence and taste in the business.

IvTliecake was so large and beauti ful that n, ... . ... ... ,f ., ? G. . Christian Association ot the United Mates we should like to have more space to speak ,nd Canada is in session to-day. Represenof it. But it spoke for itself an J for friend i tativea are Drescnt from Bestem. Springfield.

s Kurtz's good taste. No rise reported above, except one of 2 inches at Pittsburgh. Falling here, but in a good stage. Weather still unsettled. Rain and sunshine stru;;g!in for the toastery. The Justice got b ick from the Wabash yesterday with a s nail freight. Capt. Stewart has his bills up for returning to-day. The Justice is a good boat, and those who wish to lake a trip up Wabash, will fiud lur accommodations all right, The Empress arrived here yesterday from Louisville, and laid at our wharf a long time taking in freight for New Orleans. The new Louisville an I Evansville packet being built by the o-vners of the Fawn, was to have been launched at the Jefferson ship yard last Snturdiy. It is called the Rainbow, anJ is SM feet long and light draught. The Courier says she will be gorgeously furnished. We liopnt the Rainbow at EvansvÜle in a fe weeks. She wjli be a boat worthy of the trade. The Fawn is still doing her duty with tne regularity ot clock work. The C'ystil Palace was at our wharf early Sunday morning, from Louisville. Through some negligence ot the mail agent, the mail was taken by. It was scut up from Mt. Vernon in the afternoon by tbe steamer A. L. Shotwe'l. We hope the agent on the Palace will explain this little matter. It i the only case of failure in duty in any ngent on these packets we have had to report for a long time. The A. L. Shotwell was at the wharf on Sunday, being a little less than five days from New Orleans. She was not very heavi y laden. Her officers have our thanks for late papers. There was no Louisville packet yestferdsy. The Hoosier State's place has n t been supplied, and she was the regular Monday packet. Writing at a late hour, the mail had not yet reached us. JJP We regret to learn tht Capt. Vauglian, of the steamer Justice, has entirely lost one eye. We noticed several weeks ago the fact of his hsving to leave his boat at Vincenaes, owing to a sudden attack of inflam mation in his eyes. He is now in Parkersburgh, Va. Capt. Stewart has taken hia place on the Justice. " 9. SJfSW B EST( B?l FHED AM AGUICUl.Tl'KAL SKED STORE. T. GRANT A CO., 4ALBBS1 ILL BHDS or HOB-IB VBBD.
