at this ThoM who are going out to the celebration at White River to-morrow, on the railroad can, had better be ready punctual to tbo time, 8 o'clock. Warner, Esq., having now permanently located himsdf in Evanaville, haa taken an office in Dr. Bray'a building, and comrrenced the practice of low. He can be found at hia office during buainesa houra by those wishing hia services. Yeaterday was a great holliday among tha Catholics, it being "Ascension Day." The streeta were thronged during the afternoon with cleanly dressed Germans. A reat many came in from the country. - Messrs. Schaeffer & Srhroeder have removed the tobacco damaged by the Inte fire, to Woolsey & Nelson's Auction Rooms, where it will be sold next Tuesday, as will be seen by advertiaement. It is very little injured, and is as good for the retffil trade aa vr, but the injury to its outside appearance, or to the boxes, unfits it for wbolesaleing. Mesara. Lowewentlial & Co. received yesterday a tremendous lot ordinary varieties. Dealers of trunks of all and others can supply themselves with trunks to advantage at thia houae. - A epecial reporter, employed for the occasien, ia expected during the eclipse this afterno n. to have a monopoly of the gas post at the J( urnal office corner. We pre- j sums he will scat him -elf on the lamp, "(ire ask aa a a A up" below, and note the details o( the passing event in the most criminal manner. Another storm yesterday afternoon in this neighborhood. The last week or two have been remarkable for storms, not only in this region, but apparently over the whole West. Si me of them have been accompanied by almost tornadoes of wind and floods of rain, committing great damage. The Fashion was the mail gat ket yeaterday morning from Louisville. Very tl se running. They have now concluded to stop racing, .n-i ahould never h ive commenced it. The Slirevcport South Western says that the steamer W hite Clifls, lo ided with 853 b:i!es of cotton and n Lt ol'pe!lr'e, struck a stump while dernding Clack Bayou, an. He never fails in that part ol his duty. This excellent boat wiil be down day after to morrow, Sunday. Tha river at St. Louis and all the up rivers, are reported rising. The Saranac No 2, which has been ao long aground at Madrid Bar, five milea below Cairo, haa at last got off, caulked up and gone to St. Louis, being just 54 days cut from that port. She is not ferioualy injured. The Chenoweth pulled her off the bar. NEW t HHIVAL OF t I.I.
