The great amount of labr has necessarily been forced into a space of time nearly a month shorter than for several years past. We are inform ed, however, by an intelligent fsrmer of Gibeon county, that notwithstanding the unpropilious season, nearly every farmer has sucrpeHed in nuttincr in a larce crop. It.commands a ready sale in foreign marketa, with a greater proportionate profit than other grains. The labor of raisiug wheat and pulling it in market, is less than the amount required to produce the same value of corn, at the usual average prices of each. The fruit crop, which a few weeks since was thought to have been ruined, will ftot fall far below an average, and may considerably exceed that. Some early blossoms wer considerably injured in the Northern sections of Kentucky a'd Ohio, but the more hardy varieties of fruit trees escaped uninjured even theie. Indiana and Illinois will return their usual yield of fruit of all descriptions, with a gre tly i ncreased yield of the products of the Tine. We find that the most experienced farmers anticipate a prosperous season for the growing and maturing of crops generally. The shortness ofthe available tpring season' and the embarrassments incident thereto have been nearly overcome, and with the exception of some portion of the river 'bottoms there haa been but slight djlay caused by floods. The unnecessary altrm which has been sounded abroad about the blighted prospects of the coming harvest, we are glad o! an opportuuity to deny on the best authority. Unfortunate. The storm of Tuesday night last was not much felt in this city, yet all realized it was a terribie blow. We have heard of a good deal destruction in a small way produced by. the wind of that night, but nothing very serious. Mr. Sutphen's new car shop near the depot, a very large frame building, was blown down, and presented next morning a mass of ruins.
