Local and River Brevities. We mad a ittpAl error yesterday, in stating the Wm. Eaves had arrived the day previous. She did not leave Louisville till Thursday evening. However, the many complimentary notices we have seen in the up river papers founded the article we wrote. fcJhe it all we said she wus, and prubably more. On tl e 16th of April three years ago, we had snow neatly six inches deep in this region. This season is rather an improveraent over that. The Fashion bro fjht the Louisville mail yesterday morning. Sha is running regularly in the Louisville, Evansville and St. Louis line. This is the trade she was built for, and she is as comfortable and good a boat in general accommodations as there j ;e in it. We are glad to learn that our ex- ! ce'lent friend, Charley J. Schultz, formerly of the Fashion, hes sgsifl returned to his old i love. He thinks she La the best boat after all, and he intends, as sssj Vive his own asluranee, by the closest attention to the wsnta j of passcng -rs, to make her if possible, the; roost popular boat in the trade. Charley is alwaya a favorite with passengers on his' boat, as he dees every thing to make them I tomfb'-tat'le, and is one of the most obliging young men on the river. The Fashion is co umanded by Capt. Chim h. This boat has ma le the quickest Irin from St. Louis yet, and till it is beaten, we shall call her a fa at sa well as a good boat. Wo d alonjf " the coast" of the Mississippi is selling for from ?5 to $8 per cord. The wood bills of our lare steamers will average rack trip probably 2,00.
