The weather was almost oppressively warm io the sun yesterday. River falling steadily. We thank Mr. G. Copeland for Louisville papers brou-ht us yesterday. Mr. C. has betn absent nearly a month, and thus has a fine opportunity offered for noticing the march of progress in Evansville. A man absent from our city a month, can or his return generally see houses here, he never beheld before! Mr. C. says there has been a marked increase in hi business, Broker and Ex change, Dealer during his nbsence. The steamer Js. I oster &, Co.; 30 bbls inolasses, 155 bgs coUVe, 26 crates queensware, for Hollinj-sworth and Hughes; 11 bbls cugar, 12$ tols molnss-s, for J. S. Mitchell &. Son; 15S3 burs railroad iron, making S85 tons, for tie Kvansville and CrawforiUville railroad. She had a large number of passengers. Of :ur6 the polite officers have our thanks ' x ate papers, T v beautiful steamer Belle Gould is reported u complete wreck. The high water and drift have wrecked to pieces and torn away her cabin once ho elegant and pretty ; fend but little is now visible of the ill-starred boat save the hare tops of her water wheels the wheel! ouses, as well as the cabin are torn awsy. Tht splendid steamer S. F. J. Trabue, Capt. J. Tocker, arrived here from New Orleans eat ly y sterdsy morning, bringing; up dates of the Saturday previous, and thus being only a little over live and a half days out. We thank Mr. W. P. Pigman, elf rk, for papers. The Trabue will leave L'uisville on the 10th, for New Orleans. She is a swift, tiew and ipktidid boat. Ki:nnv t:n. have now eniirel removed our Toba' co ab!
