Halifax, Nov. 34. The Canada baa arrived. She sailed from Liverpool at 4 o'clock P. M., and arrived at ! Halifax at 10, A. M. The overland mail bringe the important rennrt that the Czar had formed an alliance with Doxl Mahomet to proclaim war agninat the British in India, il Great Britain coiitinues supporting Torsey. There ia a large R : ir force to invade Bukhari, and the Persian army are collecting in the valley of Sooltania (?) to co-operate with the Russians against the Turks. Parliament will probably assemble on the 14th. A report from Constantinople expreasly contradicta the report that Persia is hostile to Turkey. The Emperor of Russia baa usued an arsays "The Turks having enrolled in her ranks an army of revolutioniata of all countries, she has commenced hostilities on the Danube. Russia ia provoked to combat uu other means is left than recourse to arms to com pel the Porte to respect the treaties and ob tain reparation for the offence by which he responded to tur most moderate demands, in behalf of the orthodox faith in the Bast," sVc. The French Conenl at Bucharest telefraphs, Nov. 6 h, as follows: "On the 2d and 3d the Turks crossed the Danube from Coriukai they were eighteen thousand strong, snd en the 4th the Russians attacked them with nine thousand men. After a brisk cannonade, snd s combat w;th bayonets, the Turks msintained possession ol the field. The ccinbat lasted for three hours. The Russians hsd several office ra and 136 privates killed. Six superior officer?, eighteen subordinates and 479 privates were wounded. The loss on the Turks' side is not stated." Another account from Vienna, dated 14th, states that 14 Russian superior officers were killed, and that the Turks were masters uf the field. As theRussians were returning from Bucharest, before the Turks crossed the Danube, a body of Cussacks came to the river bank, and made signs insulting to the Egyptians, who rushed to their boat, rent ed across In the face of the Cosjacks' fire, and punished them well, and chased them, snd returned to csmp triumphant. There is a rumor ot the destruction of a Russian steamer at Horsova. Cosstastisofle. A ccountr statt that Sc lim Pacha had crossed the Russian frontier in Asia, and that a battle had ensued, in which 5,000 men were engaged. Both armies fell back aa night approached. In the second battle the Russians were defeated. Cosstastisofle, 20th. Mercon Bey, an officer in Sellin Pacha's staff, with a small force, was suddenly attacked by a body of lluaaian cavalry; Bey fell back, fighting to ward the main body of the Rusaian am y. The battle apeedily became general 15, 000 Ruaaiana were in the engagement. It waa a desperate conteat. The Russians were lefeated and fled; they were peraued by the Turks, who planted their standard at the Russian quarters at Ore!!. The Russians were beaten back to Bscharest, where the main body of the army, under Gen. Derenborg, 30,000 atrong, were located. Thua summed up the Tutks have beaten the Russians in the East. The Turkish destinatien ia unknown. The Turkish left wing in Europe has beat en the Russian right, comprising the princi pal force. The 1 urkish centre has whipped 5,000 Russians at Turtuqui.and ia now press ing ud on the Bucharest. It is hopeless that the diplomacy cun end difficulties until after a decisive battle. The typua fever is rag:ng in the Russian ranks, and has reduced the number ol fi.liting men to 45.000. It wiil be six weeks before any reinforcements can arrive. The Porte has dec ded that foreign refugees be not employed in Europe, but may serve in Asia. Constantinorle is quiet. The British fleet has been ordered to be ready fur sea by the Uth. Its destination is unknown. Mr. Buchanan attended the Lord Mayor's banquet. Mr. B.'s speech on the occasion was merely complimentary. The Earl of Aberdeen referred to his known pesce policy, but ssid that it was not impossible to engage in war to prevent great ev Is. The other ministers in atteudsnce made no political allusions. St. Louis, Nov. 25. The Santa Fe mail has arrived. There is no news of interest. Mr. Aubrey left on the 15th for California. He is going to try a near route. Lieut.
