The Kentncky Statesman gives the following anecdote aa having occurred at the receut election in that State: A certain Democratic young lady residing in Jessamine, who is a very ardent friend of Breckenridge, cot the formal written consent of a certain young Letcherite that she, the said young lady, might prevent the said L etcherite from voting by any means, fair or foul. Pursuant to thie agreement, on Suuday night, alter the young gentleman had retired to bed, she sent a servant to his room, and got all the c lothea of which he had disrobed himself, go:ng then to his wardrobe j she tcok all the rest of the clothing, and placed the whole in a secure place beyond the reach of the youug man. At a t ery early hour on Monday morning, she, with another young lady, placed herself on the stair, down which the Lnchtirite m-nt necessarily descend, if he descendej at all, and there the two ladies sat all day, keeping their encaged bird secure until the closing ol the polls in the evening, when they allowed him again to go at large. The consequence was that the young Letcherite .didn't vote and Breckinridge's majority wos increased one vote. Hihtom Loosi;. The Indians have been very troublesome in Utah killed a number of persons and stealing a great deal of stock. The Governor has issued a proclamation, and called all of the military forces of the territory in service, and has also ordered a wall to be built around the city,. twenty feet high, and eight feet thick, with a ditch on the outside. His excellency had sent out fifty men to take Bridges [sic], but he had fled to the mountains. They took possesion of the fort and locked up the store, and returned fur a reinforcement to take the mountain men at Green River—hot work is anticipated. Maj. Fitzpatrick distributed the good to the Indians at Fort Laramie on the 14th, and was to return home soon. ---<>--- ----->"I have turned many a woman's head," boasted a young nobleman of France.
