Even now I see before me the frank and handsome face of Dr. B., the soul of a par'y that had soult a representative of the finer characteristics of Southern gentlemen, and a f ry good jude of whisky. I have traveled with him before and never quarreled or any subject but politics and drinking. He is a JLocofoco, one of the aensible kind, however and has rather a preference for very old liquors. I, on the eootrary, am a Whig "al! over," tnat is to the full extent of one hundred pounds; and as you know, even my moderate drinking days are long since passed. Wesley Hughes, marshaled the juvenile forces and conducted the procession to the grove near the "Old Grave Yard," where the order of the day was fulfilled snd I the procession returned to town by the Maj. with thesystemand precision characteristic of that gallant officer. Thus ended the doing, of the 4th of July 1853 in Evansville. CCTMr. Henry Grant, a respectable farmer about four miles from this city, having possibly imbibed too much of the 4th, on re turning home in the evening ofthat date, mm I raised a difficulty with his wife and stabbed her twice in the side with a large pocket anue. ne waa arrested and bound under three hundred dollar, to appear before Esq Sa 1. a .
