A ,..,4l. I " However this may be, we were honest in aying Hunzen was a Democrat, as we underttood the word in its pr'y application. We were aware of the enmity entertaine by the editor of the Voiksbote to this patriot and true democrat, an J therefore we expected the opposition of tha paper, to any of the liberal views intertained by so independent a republican as Heinzen. But we well knew the name of Heinzen is nursed warmly in the hearts of the Tl.AA nf fi.rmnn tin1 tln wcrds coming from his lips would receive their careful reflection. We were rteht in both particulars, and have been glad to find that many of our German friends do cherish with love the n imeof Heinz?n, and that his words, as we lately published them, have at tra'cted their attention. But we wish now to make a few remarks upon Dr. Fritschs letter la the Times cf last SiUrday. We acknowledge the per aonal friendship between Dr. P. and 31r. Heinzen, and that the former shouU hive ac quaintance with the leading opinions and - preferences of 3Ir Heinzen. Dr. F.siys Sir. H. is not a Democrat that he "Inclines to that party which wo know under the Free Democracy." Dr. F, however thu3 remark? 'Letters from him but recently received speak plainly enough that h? never had the idea to vote for Scott, and it must be a bad servil of his acquaintance in Louisville to utter such words.' Now we should like to see any letter written by 3Ir; H; since he was in Cincinn.t stiting he will not vote for Scott. A personal iriend of his, as we understand, has said he woull support Gen. Scott, speaking for. Heinzorhim3elf. Dr F. might also be ,so kind as to furnish us Ii e copies of tHeJames, which are said to contain anything against Scott and, also a paper containing the justice to Pleice.' But we are in li.Terent as to whet?r 3Ir. Hejnzer be a Whig or Democrat.- Wo did not make extracts fron his letter for the purpose of g'ving t'e opi.iions of a member of one of the parties, but the opinions of a German known to Germans, and who is a man of the highet talant, cultivated intelbct. and a cute observation a patriot in his ,wu country, and daubtl ess an honest republican in this. If some of.these views Dr. F. d ff rs with him, but in ni parth'ula-, whil he obje:U to our arti rle, djs ha ombat the enrreetne of tha vi?-.vi o 31 . II. as given in the Journal. VV therefore again call th" j attention of Germans .to ths -opinions of the great patriot But first let, us make an extract from the Doctor's, letter, which may have tome allusion to .our friend of the Voiksbote... Speaking of HJnzr's enemies he says: .- , , . . . , e . . 1 . Tney belong to thatclas of people that neither is i ist. nor cmible to h . nor and teem, talent like his.
