Read the following eloquent address of the young Whigs of New York to the young Whig's of the nation: The Democratic Whig Young Mens Committee of Xcto York to the Whig Young Men oj the Union: Brethren': A great battle has been fought a great victory achieved. The principles of the Whigs, long and honorably struggled for beneath the weight of adversely und in the s Jdce of discouragement, are about to have a lair trial in the administration of the government. A Whig President and House of Representatives are already virtually assured, aud even fchouldan inscrutable Providence at any time bereave us of our chosen Chief Magistrate and trader, we have in the character and career ol Millard Fillmore ample guarantees that our just expectations will not be blasted by the treachery impelled by uncliastened ambition. They grossly libel the American people who affirm that this benign revolution has been wrought by the magic of plumes and epaulettes the sorcery of catch-words and the thunder of cannon. Here and there a handful of the unthinking and unstable the more conspicuous from their fewness may have been won toour standard by the prestige of milita ry achievement or come over to it upon a calculation of the chances for triumph and spoils.
Hut an immense majority or the votes for Taylor and Fillmoit were given from regard to principles rather than men, and with a view to beneficent changes in national policy rather than to any personal considerations. A great majority, like most of ourselves, nur rendered, not without a painful struggle, their cherished predilections for a gallant aud glorious leader on the altar of their country's well being, cheerfully following the, time-honored lldg, whoever might be designated to bear it, i! only the old principles, endeared alike to our convictions aud our memories, were seen plainly and brightly emblazoned thereon. Süitil on this point,. we gave, with you, an ardent au 1 untiring support of the Philadelphia nomitntions, and we have no fears of a disappointment. But, white much has been nobly achieved. much yet remains uiiac. omplised, and we call on you, young v higs! lor energetic action towards the perfecting of our common triumph. Representatives in Congress are yet to be chosen by half the States composing the Union. while the complexion of the next senate, it not adverse, is yet extremely doubtful. '1 he utmost exertion should be made in every Slate where Senators are yet to be chosen, or dovernorsuud Legislatures who iiirv be railed to fiUSemtoral vacancies. tosecure Whig Senators wherever possible. Nor mustanv election though S'-euiiugly unimportant, be ueglecttd. mice wing reserves, however unreal, will tend to parahze the aims of the government mid de leal the consummation of measures essential to :he country's well-being. Happily, the great tar J in il features of the whig policy are so plainly engraven on the na tional heart and the national annals that they tan neither be mistaken without stupidity, nor repudiated without manliest treachery. The protection of home Ijbor against disturb ing and depressing foreign coinpetion tb development and perfection of the national industry through the naturalization of new uro duct, uevv arts, new processes, aud the fostering to maturity aud enduring thrift of those already know n but not well established among us the vigorous prosecution of river aud harbor improvement, and all other means of pe rfecting our intercommunications, thus binding our whole country more closely together by the golden threads of mutual advantage common interest the preservation of peace and good will w ith all loreign powers by a rigorous noninterference in their internal affiirs and a scrupulous care to exact no more of them than we would gladly accord them if the circumstances were reversedand, finally, &uch modifications in our public land system as well extend Us blessings ludisputablv to every section of our country, aud preserve the in to all future generations of our ieople such are the great outlines tf the cherished Aieerican system, which is. eminently calcula ted to impel our nation rapidly on its path to greatness aud true glory, by diUusiug happiness contentment, ami tuna to every portiou ottlie community. With the year now opening before us, ou: country enters upon a new phrase of her exis tence we trust one of the brightest and no blest. The whig ascendency iust echieved will endure through many years or be over thrown at trie earliest moment, as oi r party shall prove worthy or unworthy ol such trans' cendnit responsibility. The issue, whig youn;
men! rests in good part with you. xou can strengthen and s.'ttire this ascendency by causing ihe untaught, the poor, aud the friendless but especially the helpless and wayworn fugitives from Europea n despotism, to feel that the Whig party is not, as they have been schooled to believe it, hostile to their interests and inimical to their well being that it is not in truth aristocratic and bigoted, distrustful and backward-lookicg but, whili it is sternly adverse to anarchy, to malignant envy of the fortunate, and to lawless violence, for which there can be no excuse in a republic; it is also the friend of true progress, or genuine Democracy, and of all that tends to make man's condition ou earth more hopeful and . happy. Let but these truths be thoroughly, as they have already begun to be, made clear to the general understanding, and a glorious career lies opeti to our country aud to those who, . having long aud faithfully served her in opposing bad government, are now called to serve her still more usefully in giving example ol belter. Under a deep sen?e of our mutual responsibility at this crisis, we entreat your vigilant fidelity to the common cause, pledging - you to requite it by ours. On behalf of thr Whig young men's general committee. JAMES T. M. JJLEAIiLEY, Cairmin. Robert M. Stereheigh, ) e t . Charles K.T.,lor. Secretaries. New York, N jv.20; l&K

' IMIlS Hork contains recently discovered infor X mation upon a subject oi lbe highest importance to Married Persons, or those contemplating Mar riage. It will tie found ol special value to those whose means, health or other cifc unsta..ces, do not pe-rmii ihem to increase ihe number ot their family,. . without great inconvenience, sufiering, or perhaps risk ol life. A method ol avoiding these troubles and dangers, at will, (resently discovered by a celebrated r rench Physician) s iully conimur.icated in this work, so ih.tt any person may avail tnmrelt of it at once, without purchasing any instrument, medicine, or o. her ai tide, bom the ouihor. The means of prevention he-e set foiih,cost compniatively nothing, andaiewiihin ilie .each of all. The i'tocessis new, safe, infalliable, convenient, simple, and cannot injure tue health oi the most delicate. Nor docs it curtail matrimonial privileges in ihe least. , Morally CoNsiDtELD. The object of this work can be shown to be of the highest utility, and sustained by the soundest principles of prudence, political economy, and virtue. It shows how a physiological effect may le produced, scientilically ai.d without injury to the constitution, which thousands attempt to accomplish by the most unwise and reprehensible means. 1 he object is ly no means new to the world. The means will be ess teemed by all tcientilic, riht-minded and sensib-l peeiple. as a discovery in phisiology of the higheu consequence to public morals ond happiness. The Instinct ot Natvke. Love, and the desire, for union iietwcrn the rexes, will le indulged, talk ot prudence as we may. Without marrirge, we- have, in all countries, a debasement of one ex, und the criminal indulgence of the other; with marriage, and the unrestiaiiuel indulgence ot the natural instinct, very often eutfering and misery of the most fearful character.
