Taylor to the Presidency of these United States. Under our te'egra.di head will ve found the news riCeived. It is glori ous. The Philadelphia papers concede 160 'electoral votes to Gen. Tavlor.an I honest oph - J 1 ion is that his vote: witl be greater. "The IViret are groaning vith tht death t roe of the great JUichigattder." Fiost District. Indiana. Harrison coun ty lias given Taylor a mafority of 321, an increase of 213 votes over Clay. So far iu this district the Whig gain is 525, and four coun t e to hear from. v e have but lew return from this State, but so far we see a steady gain for the Whigs. If other portions of the State do 8 half sj well m the first district, G n. Taylor lias carried it by a handsome majority. Georgia. This State has gone for Taylor as we believed the would. New York. The majority of Gen. Taylor in New York will be from 75,000 to 100,000 Mississippi. The returns from Mississippi look very favorable for Taylor. Illinois. -The returns from Illinois leave scarcely a doubt that it has gone for Taylor. "Old Zack has come." and no mistake. New York thunders fourth victory, and as the joyful sound is borne along through Tennsyl vaniaand Maryland, Kentucky ml Triine B e Georgia aud Mississippi it gladeus the hearts of twenty millions ol people. The returns from other counties are incomplete but are equally favorable for Taylor who has probably carried the Slate. TENNESSEE. This State is safe for Taylor by increased Whig majority over the IaM gubernatorial election. A LA HA MA, The returns are very flittering for Taylor; but five counties heard from in which there is a considerable Whig gain. Old Zack has come. INDIANA. Sullivan county, Cass majority 650; Vigo county,Taylor' maj. 735, Spencer county.Taylor'g inaj. 250. Taylor has gained so far. ILLINOIS. Shi w nee town, Cass 192, Taylor, 12S; Mar shall, Clark county, Cass 122, Taylor 159. Twenty-five counties heard from, whig gain of about 40C0 over Clay's vote in 1814. Cass majority will not exceed 3500. The Southern part of the Slate looks favorable for fay lor. MISSOURI, There is uo change here, and it is unnecrstary to feeud the details of the election. THE undersigned Trustees of the Wabash and Erie Canal, hereby give notice that they will re ccive sealed proposals at Point Commerce in Green County, Indiana, on the 15th day ol November next, for the construction of 17 miles of said Canal, exten ding alon j the valley of the west fork of White River, from Point Commerce to the village of Newberry in said County. On this division, there are to be constructed 6 Lift-Locks, ond Guard-Lock, a dam across White River, 12 leet in height and over 400 feet in length; together with the usual variety of work be--longing to a Canal. The line will be divided into sections averaging about half a mile in length. At the same time and place, proposals will be received for the performance of a part of the Rock Excavation at the 1'atoka Snmmit. in Tike County. This section will embrace near20,OCO cubic yards of solid rock, varying in depth from 4 to 15 ieet together with a portion of earth excavation. The work to be done will be ready for inspection for two weeks previous to the day of letting, during which time all necessary information will be given by the Resident Engineer. BIythe their solicitor, and file in the office of the Clerk of the Vanderburgh Circuit Court," their bill of complaint in the above entitled cause against tha defendants above named, and it appearing by the affidavit of a disinterested person filed in saidcaus, that John Jones, Jane King, Elijah King, Martha King, Elizabeth King, and William King, six of said defendants are non-re idents oi the State ' oflndiana: therefore notice is hereby given to the said non-resident defendants of the filing- and peadencyof said bill and that unless thev, and each of them appear in said Court on the first day of the next term thereof, to be begun and held at the Court House in the city of Evansville on the 4th Monday of March next and then and there plead answer or demur to said bill the matters and things therein will be taken as confessed to be true as against the said non-reiilent defendants and decreed accordingly.
