Taylor's raw troops. Gen. Ta)lor felt the whole responsibility that was upon him, but he would not retreat, and nrwr surrenders. He prepared to give Santa Anna battle, and when his arrangements were complete, wiote a letter to a friend, in which he eaid: luis may be the last communication you will receive from inf. I have been stripped by the Government of regular troops, and reduced in volunteers, and thus stripped, and at the mercy of the foe, have been expected by ror country to retreat or resign. buT l shall do neither. The mail train arrived this morning, but brings no intelligence of importance . except, however, the baty communications dated Sun day ami last night, descriptive oi the btate oi the disturbed district up to the latest hour. Cloxmel. Sunday night, U o clock. ine in surgents have moved towards this town. No aitack wa made last night on Keilsheelan, as was expected, but bodies of men were niartning about the neighborhood only. They made several attai ks on the farmers, taking arms and destroying property, and at noon to-day bodies of persons were observed moving about on the topoflhe mountain which rises above the tow n on the Waterford side. Crowd of inhabitants were collected in the streets, and as evening approached they on the mountain appeared to increase in numbers, and it u luuy oeueeu thev are insurgents, who have moved over from the neighborhood of Carrick. The grehtest excitement exists in the town to-night on account of their appearance. Carrick is quiet to-day, but rural districts present insurrectionary symptoms; such as signal fire. &c.
