Tyler, CO"" A correspondent of the Picayune writing from Baton Rouge July lOib, says: Our meeting on the 8th inst., composed of the neighbors and friends of Gen. Taylor, drawn together for the purpose of ratifying the nomination of Gen. Taylor by the people, was fully attended and gave universal satisfaction. The proceedings throughout were conducted in the best spirit. There was no abuse of candidates, uo unguarded expressions, and no appeal to the passions. ISever before did I attend a meeting so complete in accomplishing its purpose, so perfectly satisfactory to all en gaged in it. The citizens of East tiatou Rouge and vicinity participating in the meeting feel under obligations to your city for the services of Messrs. Benjamin and 1'eyton. Persuasion from the stump, kindly offered, like the soft answer, turns away wrath and disarms the ego tism of more political partisauship. A common consequence of thia Direction is a kind of tenesmus, or bearingdown sensation, as it is familiarly called; there id also heat, tension and throbbing in the part, varying from a moderate de gree of these sensations to the most excruciating suffering; these are caused hv the great How of blood to the parts. Sometimes the inner cool of the bowels protrudes at every evacuation, forming what is called Prolapsus, or falling of the bowel; tin is the effect of long continued irritation and weakness of that organ. In some instances the patient experiences ner vous pains, which are indht-rib-ible, and known only to the ufferer, which commence immediately after an evacuation, and continue from thirty minutes to several hours; these sensations are very annoying and sometime very distressing. This disease, when of long continuance, is attended by pain and weakness in the back, irritation ol the kidneys and blad der, and other organs in the vicinity, pain and numb ness in the legs and feet, a sense ot straitlies about the chest, and unnatural fulnes of the abdominal vis-cera, accompanied with palpitation of the heart and oppression. Individuals sometimes experience, previous to an attack of the Piles, symptom denoting great derangement in the circulation; liiere is a sense ol weight and pressure in the abdomen, with a peculiar feeline of'uiieaines in the bowels, consti pation or perina-uni, attended with pain in the back and loins, nausea, and flight pains in the stomach, pale countenance, confused sensations in the head, weariness, and irritable and discon tented state ot the mind, and a nenseof tulneaiid oppression in the re gion id the Horn ich.
