ARRIVAL OF THE CALEDONIA. SEVEN DAYS LATER FROM EUROPE. Boston, June 8, 8 1. M. The Buena Vista Express reached here today with the Caledonia's news. She arrived at Halifax on Thursday at noon. I The resignation of Louis Napoleon has postponed trouble. There are six. candidates for President in the field. Lamertine, Thiers, Prince LouisBonapart, M. Marast, Gen. Causidere, and Cardinaie, ex-prefect of the police. The Orleans Par ty will support M. Thiers, and Berager has de clined in his favor. If the election was soon to take place, little doubts exists that Louis Bonapart would be the successful candidate. Accordingly, the constitution has been altered and the President, instead of being elected by the people, unless he has an absolute majority of the votes given, is to be selected by the National Assembly from five persons returned by the people. Louis Napoleon has been elected colonel of the National Guards. A new pretender is spoken of in the person of Prince of Seuchtenburg, son of Prince Eugene. The war in Denmark is unabated. At a conference of the Kings of Sweeden and Denmark, the Grand Duke Constantine, of Russia, in behalf of Denmark, demanded that the Germans' evacu ite both duchies before negotiation. If Schleswig was given up, Russia claimed Holstein according to the treaty with the Danes. A collision occurred at Berlin. The Burgher Guards attempting to disperse the workmen while demanding work or money from the ministry, five were wounded. The people then erected barricades and captured the arsenals and distributed 2,000 stand of arms to the people, afterwards they retired from the building. An outbreak had occurred at Prague, in con sequence of the King lefwaing to confirm the Provisional Government, and erecting batte ries around the city. The students and people rose and the Assembly was dismissed; the troops put themselves under the protection of the reoe The Government ministers re.:20e.i 0 Cokx. Carrying out a Whim. Not many months since, a hdy who resided in Providence, encountered in the railroad cars an old gentleman, who seemed to regard her with an air of unusual interest. Finally, assuming the privilege of age, lie ventured to accost her, and Ihey entered into conversation. Before parting, he hegged permission to call on her, at her house. is deferential manner, his advanced age, and his frank expression of interest, though a stranger, in her weliare, were so many pleas in her favor, that she replied to Iiis request, that she would be very gl id to see linn, and did not doubt that her husband also would be.
