-PI' From the nttsburg Gazt tte. THE past summer (1S47) has been a very remarkable one. Frequent and heavy rain, followed by intense and long continued heat, had the effect, in th first place, to promote a rapid growth of succulnts vegetation, and in the pecond. to produce a rapid de?onjpoition of Vfgctable matter, giving riae to much mifp'na and spreading fickitets, disease and death, in .V9 which had heretofore been remarkable for their stuubritv. We are credibly informed, that whole meadows, on which the grass was unusually heavy, rotted to the ground and was not fit to 1 cut. In Indiana and Illinois, thetickness was so general, that there was not enough well persons to attend upon the tick, whone sutii rings were prctrae ted by a vant of proper remed ieo, as well as ot good nursing. Much ot this juflering might have been prevented, had every family kept on hand a supply of medicines suited to counteract the etiects of ilus miasma, with which the atmosphere at certain times is surcharged. In nddi tion to Quinine, (which is in such general use as to need no comment.) we would strongly urge every family to keep on hand one or nicr.i boie9 of "Dr. M'Laxl'sLivex Pills." These Pills are the nrescrintion of an eminentPhvsician in .Monongahala Co. Virginia, and were utcd by him in his private practice as a remedy in billiou complaints, fur years before he thought of offe ring them to the puMic. buch, however, was the success lo the Till", and so great the number of persons bruefited Ly theni, that the making of the quantity requisite to suplv the increaring demand, began to inter fere materially with the time reiuired to attend to Iiis practice. To prevent this henna rnnde arrangements with the hou.Qe of J. Kidd &. Co. .No. 60 Wood Street, Pittsburg, Pa. to prepare and vend them, where the genuine may be procured at all times and in any reasonable quantity. These Pills are not recommended as a panacea for 'all the ills that flesh ishrir to," but in all alR'Ctions .f the Liver and in nil bilious complaints, they stand without a rival. All who have ever used them, give them the preference overall oth.r Pills, and cannot be persuaded to exchange those which they find experif ence ti le mild, nnf, and tfntual,(oT any othcr.cven though they may be ivear coo li J, or bo drastic as to yo ''through by tiay light." THIS world has ever been tho scene of the Grcegt struc'iles between Truth and error, o sooner does Truth proound an important theory, than error, wiih it lemon of allies, seeks to arrest its pro gress.
