For four long monthB she has been wearing a yellow garter f-s a matrimonial charm that was to work wonders, after having worn it six months. THE DEATH OF MRS. CANNON.

The Illinois Congressman's Wife's Sudden Denth at Danville.

The Danville Commercial of yesterday contained the following account of the death of Mrs. Cannon, wife of the congressman from the Danville district:

The announcement yesterday morning about 8 o'clock that Mrs. Joseph G. Cannon, wife of the Hon. Joseph G. CannoD, had been found deBd in her bed at her residence, 50-1 north Vermillion street, at about half-past six o'clock by her daughter, Miss Helen Cannon, was a sudden and severe shock to her large number of friends and to the public generally, and was difficult to believe that was so. The deceased was in her usual health Sunday and up to the time of retiring, which was about 1:30 o'clock this morning, complaining onry slightly of the dentity of the atmosphere and dillijulty in breathing freely, which caused no uneasiness as she had frequently expf need like difficulties. She attendeu services at the First M. E. Church last evening and sang in the choir. Her daughter Mabel, intending to go to Chicago on the 1:15 o'clock C. Jb E. 1. train this morning, she sat up and went to the Junction with, her, and returning retired about '2 o'clock. This morning at 0:30 o'olock her eldest daughter went into her room to wake her up for breakfast when her death was discovered. She had placed a prized ring under her pillow and appeared as if in gentle sleep. As soon as her death became known a large number of intimate friends went to the residence to offer assistance and to sympathize with the daughter and aged mother of debased,,the only relatives being in the nouse when she died. The doctors pronounce the cause of her deajh to be heart disease.

Mrs. Cannon was born in Canfield, Ohio, and was about 45 years old. She was married to the Hon. Joseph G. Cannon at the place of her birth, twentysix j^ars.ago, and has been a residenl of Dr "or fifteen years. She was ac. »ber of the First M.

E Church,

taking lead in everything for the good of the church, and was noted for her many kind and charitable acts. She was a leader in society, and the doora of the palatial residence on north Vermillion Btreet were always open to her numerous friends, who passed many a pleasant evening enjoying her well known hospitality. Her death will be sincerely mourned not only by her relatives and friends but by those who have been made happy bv her charity.

Miss Mabel Cannon arrived home last evening on the fast train from Chicago, when she first learned of the death of her mother, aa it was thought best not to telegraph her. The Hon. J. G. Cannon will arrive some time to-day from Washington, when the time of_ the funeral will be announced. In their Bad and sudden bereavement, the husband and daughters and the aged mother and relatives have the sympathy of the entire community.
