Cough medicines, Ayer's Cherry Pectoral is iu greater demand than ever. No preparation for Throat and Lung Troubles is so prompt,iu its effects, so agreeable to the taste, and so widely known, as this. It is the family rnediciue in thousands of households.
I have suffered for years from a iironchial trouble that, whenever I take cold or am exposed to inclement weather, shows itself by a very annoying tickling sensation in the throat and by difficulty in breathing. I have tried a great many remedies, but none does so well as AVer's Cherry Pectoral which always gives prompt relief in returns of my old complaint." Ernest A. llepler, Inspector of Public lioads, Parish 'lerrit Bonne, La.
I consider Ayer's Cherry Pectoral a most important remedy
For Home Use.
I have tested it. curative power, in my family, many limes during the past thirty years, and have never known it to fail.* It will relieve the most serious affections of the throat aud lungs, whether iu children or adults." Mrs. E. G. Edgerly, Council lilufls, Iowa. "Twenty years ago I was troubled with a disease of the lungs. Doctors afforded me no relief and considered my case hopeless. I theji began to use Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, ami, before I had finished one bottle, found relief, continued to take this medicine until a cure was effected. I believe that Ayer's Cherry Pectoral saved my life." Samuel Griggs, Waukegan, IU. "Six vears ago I contracted asevero cold, which settled on my lungs aud soon developed all the alarming symptoms of Consumption. I had a cough, night sweats, bleeding of the lungs, pains in chest and sides, and was so prostrated as to be confined to my bel most of the time. After trying various prescriptions, without benefit, uiy physician finally determined to give me Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. I took it, and the effect was magical. I seemed to rally from the first dose of this medicine, and, after using only three bottles, am as well and sound as ever."

REPUBLICAN COMMITTEES.
Tlie 1'iopostd
I'liin
of Organization for
Next Year.
A meeting of the Republican state central and executive committees will be held at the New Denison, on Thursday evening, says the Indianapolis Journal. Chairman Michener, in anticipation of this meeting, has been getting into shape some of the important, questions to be considered. They relate for the moat part to details of reorganization and preparation for the work of the approaching campaign. He talks confidently of (xcellent results that he believes will follow the action to be taken at this time. DuriDg the past few months, Mr. Michener saye, a great deal has been accomplished, and his advices from count-', district and state committeemen are such ns to warrant a hope that at the beginning of the year Republicans will be ready for active work. At to what the state committee has in view r.carding a completion of its plans, Mr. Michener told a reporter that he presumed there would be a reorganization of the county committees in January and' of the district and state committees in the following month. "In recent yeare." he continued, "the state committee has requested the Republicans of the various counties to choose, in January, their counly committees. The manner of doing this is left entirely to the good judgment of the local organizations named." "That means they can adopt any plan of chousing delegates and committeemen that may be deemed best for the county in which the committee is acticg," the reporter suggested. "The county committees can direct that the selections shall be made by meetings in school districts, or by township, county, mass or delegate conventions. But the power of selection can go further than this in adopting Bny method thai may be deemed bast in obtaining a full expression of Republican wishes as to who shall be delegates or committeemen. I mention delegates, as at the primary elections, meetings or conventions to choose committeemen delegates to district conventions will be chosen. The latter will select the members of the state committee." "Is it expected that the new state committee will organize earlier iu the year than heretoiore?" "It will meet herein February to elect its otlicers and to prepare for the actual work of the campaign. The plan 1 have outlined has been successfully pursued, and I thick the present committee will make no material changes. The plan gives every Republican a voice in selecting his representatives on the committee, and it bri lgs about an early reorganization of the working forces of the party. Oflieers and members of the county committees are exhibiting great interest in what is to be done. The Indiana Republican enj iys nothing so much as a political contest, and he is not perfectly happy until he hears the command to charge the enemy's works. That is what we iutend to do within two months after the new year begins."
At the approaching meetiug of the state committee Captain Charles H. McCarer will represent the First congressional district. He has a general proxy from the Hon.F.B. Posey, who will be detained at the national capital in looking after the interests of his contest.
FARM NOTES.
Linseed meal should be used regularly for all classes of stock. It is not only nutritious, but serves to regulate the bowels and aid digestion.
There are no good reasons but lack of knowledge and skill why every pound of butter made in the country might not be prime, if not fancy.
One good team of heavy horses is better than two teams of ponies. The fewer the number the less work of feeding and managing them is required.
Whenever you find man's name on a package of fruit that is invariably honestly packed, that name will be worth a good deal of money to its owner.
Many abandoned farms have been abandoned because they were too large to be profitably cultivated. It i9 seldom that a small farm is abandoned.
The reports of several experiment stations are always promptly sent to any farmers desiring them. As they contain the results of experiments they impart valuable information.
With calves as with other young animals the best reeitlts are obtained by keeping them growing right along without any cessation. Thej»-need plenty of skimmed milk with a little oil meal stirred into it, and after a little the addition of oat meal. With such food and a good pasture to run in calves can hardly fail to thrive.
If the frost has killed the grass and weeds and the lieid is dry it will do no injury to the grass by allowing fire to run ever the field, which, however, will clean it completely nnd give the young grass a better appearance in spring. It should be done when the -ground is
"A Ii" A •&.
frozen. Strawberry beds will be benefited by burning, and the plants will come out stronger next season.
Experiments show that aoy portion of the seed from an ear of corn may be used for planting, and that there is no advantage possessed by the butt seed over the tip seed, nor is the middle seed better than that from the butts or tips.
Pumpkins contain 11 per cent, of solid matter. They are excellent for cows ihat are changed from pasture to dry food. Many dairy men advise that the seed be removed, as they ~ct on the kidneys. Pumpkins should be sliced Bnd a little bran, slightly salted, sprinkled over the pieces.
When a Hock of hens do not pay the best plan is to pick out the ones that are laying and sell off the others. It is sometimes uhe case that there are too many of them together. A few hens well kept will produce more eggs proportionately that a larger number.
