The cider factories in the vicinity of Champaign save thousands of bushels of apples from going to waste every year. To be sure they pay small prices for apples delivered at. the mills, but apples at 35 cents per 100 pounds are more profitable than oats at 16 cents per bushel.

Toledo Express: Mrs. Tade, mother of Mrs. B. F. Anderson, fell down stairs at. the latter's residence in this city Monday njorning, breaking both arms just ahove tbe wrist joints, and bruising one of her legs badly. She had on ber spectacles at tbe time of the accident and the glasses were smashed ayainst her cheeks, cutting them fearfully.

Crawfordsville Journal: Truitt Wilson, living about one-half mile east of •he city, lost his old family horse, Seelatn, this morning by death. He would have been 29 years old next March. He was foaled in March 1861, just at the beginning of the rebellion. Mr. Wilson has owned him all this time. He never was sold or traded, ard never miesed but one feed to his knowledge during all those years.

A daring burglary was committed on Main street, Wa6bingtor, th* houpo entered being that oft he Rev Jame= Omelvtna, pastor of the Presbyterian Churnh. Mr. Omelvena was absent from home, and no one was in the house but Mrs. Omelvena and the children. She wao awakened by two masked men in her room, one of whom presented a revolver, threatening the frightened lady with death, while his comrade ransacked the apartment. When she attempted to cry out. one of them caught her by the throat and the other tore a ring from her finger. The thieves took Mr. Omelvena's underclothing that they found in the house, and exchanged their own for it, while in the house. They also secured 812 in money, several rings, necklaces and other valuable articles of jewelry and clothing. There is no clew, but the thieves are believed to be tramps.
