Shad rick Wasson, a farmer living near Brown's Valley, was struck ou the head and knocked down bv a scale weight in the hands of one McNally, a blacksmith, who performed his work, because of a Bum of money due him. Wasson, after b6ing knocked down, drew a revolver and lired, but without irect. His son Will, aged 15, then took a hand, and came to the rescue of his father. He took a penknife and with vigorous strokes soon had Mr. McNally laid out. and bleeding profusely. His cuts are of such a serious nature that it is feared he will not survive them.

A Surprise l'urty.

Ind., November 21.—About
forty of the best citizens of our little city called on Dr. Black last night, and proceeding to the back door very carefully, went in on the folks by surprise with about eight or ten baskets well filled with ediables. Two large tables were spread ^through two rooms. The surprise was to show the respect of our best citizens for the doctor and family before their departure for Center Point next week. Thus the White C.ip3 have carried out their threat.
