Saturday evening the barn of \V. C. W. Wright, four miles east of Washingtor, with its contents, was destroyed by fire. Loss, $2,000: insurance, 8900.

Monday morning the farm residence of John Stump, near Crawfordsville. caught fire during his absence and was .a total lose. Lioes, 11,600 insurance, $1,200.

Sunday morning Thomas Ferguson, a farmer living near Redmon, 111., was knocked down and seriously injured by a bull while at work in his barn yard.

The Crawfordeviile Journal publishes a story to the effect that Matthew Brandenburg, an old resident of that city, will probably receive S300.000 in a week or ten days from an old German estate.

Last week a warehtat-'e and hay press at Paxtor, owned by W. H. Crowder, of Sullivan, were destroyed by fire. Loss, $2,000: insurance, $500. This is the second warehouse lost by Mr. Crowder by fire.

Loganeport hunters report that the quails in that vicinity are to small to be kilted, beifg only half grown. The birds are the second Bettinge, the first having been drowned by the heavy rains last spring.

The grand jury, now in session, went down to Bowling Green this week to inspect the poor farm and make recommendations. The building is crowded beyond its capacity.

Cusick & Mosier are sinking a new shaft on the Burger farm, near Clay City, where they have found a 4-foot vein of exultant coal at a depth of 120 feet.

A'l the mines in operation in the south part of the county are being worked to their full capacity.

Thirty miners left this locality on Monday last for the mines in the south part of the state.
