Special to the Express. PARIS, III., July 11.—During a rain storm at Vermillion last night, Grace Wilson, a 12-year-old daughter of James Wilson, was atrnclc by lightning and in stantly killed while standing under a tree.

The rain storm was very severe north and east of this city, lasting from two to three hours, while at this place there was comparatively none. Last week David Kellar, Vernon Stout and Lewis Kellar were brought in from the neighborhood of the old reservoir and fined 15 apiece and costs, amounting -to about $13 in each case. An attempt to murder a French miner, named Prudence, in mine No. 4, which is just south of Washington, has just come to light. Some one of his en emies placed the heads of several parlor matches in his powder can and when he was tamping the explosive the powder exploded, the charge flying in his face burning it in a frightful manner.
