Prof. G. D. Edmunson, the optician, will be in Terre Haute July 8th. The position in political economy taken by Sismonds andj MalthuB, that human productive exertion makes the multiplication of unproductive consumers not only probable, but necessary, may be true so far as the United States are concerned. But there is one thing the nation cannot ignore, and which legislation ought to throttle with a giant's grasp, and that is the immense amount of adulterations-with ether, logwood, tobacco, high wines and oologne spirits which the wholesale dealers and rectifiers are putting out as pure liquors, which is truly demoralizing, hurtful to the life blood of the nation and makes Malthus' theory plausible. Complaints have been made against W. C. Bergen, Louis Becker and Ferdinand Feidler for allowing their cows to run at large, but the cases were not tried yesterday. Mayor Danaldson found it necessary to inform Mr. Campbell, the pound-keeper, that no cows should be allowed to escape from the pound without due process of law. The request was made because, by some means, cows had escaped from the pound and certain owners had thus been exempted from the legal penalty for transgression..

PROF. G. D. EDMONDSON,

i- (Successor to Schmidt)
Opp. Opera House, Terre Haute, Ind.,
8th,
the optical specialist, who will adjust suitable lenses for your eyes and perfect frames to your face, and place you on the road to comfort and happiness. To test your eyes by this series of graded letters, you will shade one eye, and at the natural reading
distance (14 inches), see how fine type you can read: then shade the other and test In the same manner. If your eyes are perfect, you can see the entire page. If you find you can see farther down the page with one eye than with the other, yonr eyes are not alike, and you are doing your work largely with ono eye, and should consult an optician who will adjust suitable lenses, so you will be using both eyes equally.
A person with imperfeot sight may read this print but if they cannot read it, or read it with dimcnltT, they require spectacles, and ihould see an optician at once. Copyrighted 1868.
Look at one of the wheels in the corner of this card with one eye at '"l/Ar a time, same as testing with the letters. If you find some of the spokes are clear and black while others are blurred or gray, you have astigmatism which, if riot corrected in time, is likely to become serious, if not corrected with proper spectacles.
