The St Benedict Sunday school will picnic at Coatss College park to-morrow. The Ringgold band will tarnish the music, and ample refreshments will be on the grounds.
Frank Clearwater, foremin of the Vandalia work train, was atruck on the head with a hook, yesterday, and seriously though not dangerously injured. He was taken home, but will be out in a tew days,
New hymn books, entitled "Songs of Christian Praise," have been received by the Congregational Church. Two hundred books were ordered, and it is the wish of the Rev. Mr. Crum that each pew in the church be provided with at toast one book.
Frank Trombley surrendered himself in Justice Felsenthal's court and

leaded guilty to assault and battery on wife and was fined one cent and costs. The fine was made as light as peemble by the intercession of Mrs. Trombley, who even pleaded for her complaint to be withdrawn.

Misses Mary Moffett and Clara Cavins, of Mattooo, are visiting friends at 220 south Eighth street.
Miss Wiley, of Waveland, who has been visiting Miss Katherine Wiley, returned home yeeterday afternoon.1
Mr. Frank Stone, son of Mr. Samuel Stone, is very low with consumption, and is not expected to live over Sunday.
Mr. James Byrnes will give a boat excursion on Tuesday evening, compliment ary to his friends. The Ida Lee will carry the party.
Misses Agnes Parker and Hattie Lockwood left Friday for northern Indiana to spend the summer at Miss Lockwood's home.
Mr. Robert Johnson will give a dancing party to-morrow evening at hiB home on north Eighth, complimentary to the guests of Miss Nellie McKeen.
Mr. James Landrum has discarded his crutches, being now able to walk reasonable distances with only the assistance of a cane. The fracture of several small bones in the lower part of his leg will prolong the lameness for several weeks yet.
The Rev. and Mrs. C. R. Henderson, formerly of this city, but now of Detroit, received from the members of his congregation, just before leaving for their trip to Europe last month, tickets to Europe and return, with $1,000 to use as spending money, with a leave of absence for four months and no reduction in his annual salary.
Mr. E. B. Bryan, who graduated from the Normal school on Friday, and Miss Lulu Scott, a student in the school, were married Friday evening by the Rev. Mr. Kirtley, of the First Baptist Church, at the parsonage. They have gone to Kokomo where they will make their future home, and where Mr. Bryan will teach during the coming year.
A large number of the young friends of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Power called upon them last Tuesday evening to remind them that it was their third wedding anniversary. In honor of the event they presented to Mr. and Mrs. Power a handsome easy chair. Refreshments were Berved, after which the evening was delightfully spent in music, games and conversation. At a late hour the guests departed, wishing the genial couple, who had entertained them so leasantly on numerous occasions, many appy returns of the day.
