About one hundred of the citizens living on north Center street had neighborhood picnic at Collett's park yesterday afternoon. It was a neighborhood picnio and the neighborhood included Postmaster Resgan and family and the coming Postmaster Gieiner ana family. The ladies of the neighborhood assessed Mr. Greiner for the ice cream for the party.
The horse driven in the mail wagon from the trains to the postoffics, became frightened at the reports of fire crackers at the Union depot Thursday night and ran away. It ran across the "Y" north of the depot at break-neck speed to the I. & St L. depot, stopped and backed the wagon up to the platform where the mail is usually loaded and awaited the arrival of the driver. The horse performed its part as if it had been trained to run away.
Washington Gazette: C. M. Thompson, secretary of the Business men's association, of Terre Haute, writes that a large wooden box manufactory wants to locate at Washington. It uses sycamore, poplar, lynn, elm and cottonwood timber, and the patent used in manufacturing wooden articles is said to outrival anything of the kind. The proprietors of the concern desire to locate where this timber is abundant and Washington is just the place. The businsss men of the city might do well to write Mr. Thompson on the subject.

Mr. E. H. Bindley has broken the fishing record at Lake Mills, Wisconsin, by catching a black bass that weighed four and three-quarter pounds. The Terre Haute fishermen at Lake Mills seems to be taking the lead this season.
