William T. Crist, an old and respected citizen of Lewia township, died of heart disease Monday. For some davs he had been complaining, but on Monday morning felt bettor, got up and dressed himself, then suddenly said to his wife: "There is something the matter with my heart my breath ie leaving I am dying," and expired instantly.

The M. E. Sunday school will go to Momence on Tueeday next. The management will give a prize of S3 00 to the one catching the largest fish and $1.00 each to the boy and girl catching the smalleet fish.

An Ex-Couvlr.t Arreated.

Special to the Express. ROCKVII.I.E, Ind., June 19.—Marshal Dyson last night arrested .George Hut ton, on the east side of the public square. The young man was riding with Squire Jack, near Judson, and put his hand into the squire's pocket and re-1 lieved him of three dollars. The old gentleman had nineteen dollars in differ-, ent pockets, but got off with the lose of I three. Hutton displayed along bladed knife and, it ia said, threatened the squire. Squire Knowles put Hutton under $500 bond, which he failed to give, and was sent to the cooler. Hutton has been out of the penitentiary only a short time.

The farmers of Montgomery county are wailing for rain. Butter is a drug on the market at Paris, and sells at ten cents a pound.

Zan Moorehead, residing near Newport, has a yearling colt weighing 800 pounds.

Mrs. Reed, of Brazil, fell from a porch Tuesday and broke her arm just above the wrist.

Ridge Farm, 111., contributed $280 worth of shelled corn to the Johnstown sufferers.

The army worm has made its appearance in vast numbers in Bethlehem township, Cass county.

A mutual benefit association composed of sixty farmers was formed this week at Pahnyra, Knox county.

Willie Neiderberger fell from a low shed at Loganaport Monday evening and broke his arm in two places.

George A. Plummer, of Washington township, Putnam county, has become insane through the study of "Christian Science."

Liillie Embers has sued George Gordon, both colored, in the Knox county court for $1,000 damages for breach of promise.

Martin Parker's barn near Eminence, Putnam county, was totally destroyed by fire Tueeday night with its contents. Loss $800, insurance $400.

W. L. Ewing filed suit in the Vincennee court Tuesday against Vincennes township to recover damages in the sum of $509 for sheep killed by dogs.

The 4 years old son of G. W. Salmnno, of Danville, was kicked by a horse Monday, resulting in a severe gash being cut on the eyebrow and under one eye.

Bloomington has purchased the new Jenny electrio light plant in that city for $82,467. It is estimated that it will cost $12,000 per year to operate the plant.

Ridge Farm item: The girls of Ridge Farm are talking of formiog a "kiss trust" If done the boys will prosecute them under the law which prohibits the forestalling of the necessaries of life.

Marita Mattei, of Graencastle, has been engaged as the prima donna to accompany Signor Liiberati, the cornetist, and his company, on a concert tour through the states as far west as California, Arizona and Mexico.

William M. Compo was arrested at Vincennes Tuesday afternoon, charged with stealing a horse from Frank Bower, near Bruceville. Compo is supposed to be the last of a gang of horse thieves that have infested that territory tbe past year.
