Washington Democrat: Mr. Georve H. Simpson, city civil engineer of Terra Haute, is in the city, at the request of the city council. In oompany with Mayor Ogdon, Mr.

streets of the city yesterday for the purpose of furnishing plane* and specifications for a system of sewerage.

Paris Beacon: The gae works of this city were visited yesterday by M. N. Diall, president of the Terre Haute gas works, who contemplate the adoption of a similar system in Terre Haute. He expressed himself pleased with the workings of the plant, whi.ch, by the way, is not duplicated in this part of the country outside of Chicago.

The Aabury Sunday school boat excursion and picnic, postponed from last Saturday, will occur next Tuesday, the 18 th inst. The Ida Lee with two large covered barges will leave the landing—foot of Walnut street—at 8 a. m., and return at 5 p. m. Everybody invited. Fare for round trip 40c, children 20c. The picnic will be held in a grove about twenty miles down the river.
