BKAZIL, Ind., June 10.—The total valuation of Clay county, as reported by the assessors, is $6,231,423. To this will be added about half a million of railroad valuation, making a total of $7,000,000 in round numbers. We have a' total of 5,094 polls, and 2,107 dogs.

The merchants of Vincennes signed an agreement Saturday evening to close their stores every evening at 6 o'clock except Saturday.
An organized band of horse-thieves is in existence in the southern part of Indiana and Illinois,- and a large number of thefts are reported.
Charles W. Israel's fish reservoir near Paris burst Saturday morning and was entirely destroyed. Some of the fish weighed betweed five and six pounds.
Hoopeeton Democrat: Hoopeeton proposes to make the eagle scream a little louder than eVer on the coming Fourth. It will be the grandest celebration by all odds ever held in eastern Illinois.
A. R. McKinney, living on the Illinois side of the river opposite Vincennes, killed a cow for beef the other day and found the following articles in her stomach: One pair of pante, one boot, a quarter section of a felt hat, a leather strap with a buckle on it, one tiickel, one bullet, one flobert ball, a nut, several small scrape of iron, and nails and screws of ail description.
