Wardrobes, sideboards and chiffoniers low in price at Probst & FisbeckV. Messrs. Hughes & Lewis have just finished decorating the interior of the Moffat street Presbyterian church.
Philip Kadel's will be headquarters for turf goods as he has just received a complete line, and horsemen will find it to their advantage to call and examine. He also keeps a full line of trunks and valises.
Goodman & Hirschler promise some extraordinary good bargains for this week in their ready made clothing department. Their stock is very largr, and no house keeps finer and better made garments than they do. They have a very large and nobby line of children's clothing and sell them at greatly reduced prices.
There is nothing so vexing to the housewife as to. have her order for groceries made up of inferior or spoiled articles. She at once concludes that the grocery which permits such stuff to go out is not very worthy of patronage. The rule of supplying the public with the nicest and freshest of grooeries is the reason why Messrs. E. R. Wright & ies so
logists and other authorities, contend that a belt alternating bteween a natural gas field and an oil output extends across the country in a line running from northeast to southwest, and that Terre Haute is in the center of this belt is no question now. Nor is there any about Old Cobweb hall and the pure liquors bought direct, and always on hand at Main and Canal streets.
The cold spell did not have any effect on the merchant tailoring trade at Goodman & Hirschler's. They are still rushed with work and have taken lots of measures last week. They have certainly turned out more suits this season than ever before. They are ordering new styles all the time, and certainly deserve the big trade they enjoy, because they turn out none but first-class garments.
Hughes & Lewis are doing a fine job of decorating on the dining-room of Ohmer's Hotel at Vandalia, 111.
HE RESTEB SIS POOR ABM.
Poor Old Uncle Boundpaunch's Fanny Experience on a Car
Uncle Roundpaunch (that isn't his name, but it will do), is more than mid die-aged, and very near-sighted, says the San Francisco Examiner, but his heart is young, even if his right foot is swollen and his chestnut curls are infrequent.
Uncle Roundpaunch was on his way to pay a three days' visit to a friend in San Rafael.
It was evening when he crossed the bay, and the cars were no better lighted than they usually are. Uncle Roudd launch seated himself beside a plump emale form, the face of which was heavily veiled. Soon the old gentleman's arm was extended along the back of the seat. It touched the lady, who shrunk away. "I meant no offense, miss," said he, in a fatherly tone, "but my arm has been broken, and I cannot let it hang down without great pain."
She nodded the acceptance of the apology, and they rode on in silence. But that broken arm kept getting closer and cloeer, until at last it reposed very snugly around the lady's waist. After the first shrinking she made no resistance, but kept her face averted.
His friend awaited him at the station. As Uncle Roundpaunch helped the lady from the car his friend spoke to her. "Well, Mary, did you order those potatoes?"
It was his friend's colored housekeeper, and Bhe leered at poor Uncle Roundjaunch during the whole three days of lis visit. _•

Ice cream for Sunday dinner at E. E. Lawrence's.
The public is with J. N. Hickman in his war on the practice of sewing machine agents and overall manufacturers entering into a contract by which the latter compel the use of the former's machine and receive commission of 115 on every machine sold for ths agent.

Think of overall manufacturers compelling persons who sew for them to use a certain machine. The reason is that they recieve a commission of from $13 to $15 on every mschine they sell. J. N. Hickman gives the purchasers of the White the benefit of this commission.
Assignee Sale! Assignee Sale! The J. R. Fisher stock of shoes will be closed out for the benefit of the creditors. 32 7 Main street. Edwin Ellis, assignee.
J. N. Hickman's expose of the disreputable business methods of some agents in disposing of their sewing machines, has opened the eyes of the public to the enormity of the unfairness practiaed to ward the women who make overalla. Compelling the use of a certain machine because a commission of $15 is reoeived is revolting to the American idea of fairnesa and justice. Buy the White.
