jS?! [Written for the Express.) SIGH or .THE VOLUPTOABY. 'Tis vain! The transports of my life are lied. In silence have I measured all their swift departing years. Beyond this dreary waste no new Hope could, knew, arise And yet—I Indolently let them pass, nor sought their speed To stay. Nor morn, nor noon, nor night now brings one simple ray To illuminate the cheerless, trackless depths, where crouches like A thief on my path, the demon of Despair. Nor ebb, nor flow Of tide longer disturbs the still, dead calm of waters. whose Inanatlon and drear monotony stifle sense. Yet held, and owned, The rarest treasure stIU unvalued lies once lost,

Is thought to be beyond compute. How true a mathematician Is Death! Nor mortal on the earth, nor angel in the heavens, Nor seraph from utmost ethereal world, can reckon, so well As he, the cost to us of one little flower!

There is nothing so vexing to the housewife as to have her order for groceries made up of inferior or spoiled articles. She at once concludes that the grocery which permits such stuff to go out is not very worthy of patronage. The rule of supplying the public with the nicest and freshest of groceries is the reason why Messrs. E. R. Wright &. Co.'s "White Front" grocery occupies so popular a place in the public mind.

RESOLUTIONS 01" CONDOLENCE

Adopted by Dames Lodge F. and A. 31., on the Death of Thou. H. Blake. TEKRK HADTK, Ind., May 6th, 1889.

Whereas, Darnes lodge No. 4, of Free and Accepted Masons, has lost from Its fraternal chain a link whose connection ever tended toward the upbuilding of the craft, and whose christian charity ever extended in a sphere of tranquillztng the least interruption or discord that might prevail amongst the brethren of his craft—one whose anxiety, as a characteristic of the order, was to I see who could best work and best agree, and as one of the old craftsmen, ever kept bis Masonic sabre shining and glittering, momentarily prepared to defend the land marks of his order.

As a man he walkied before God and man with a clear conscience, an enviable reputation, and character as spotless as the noonday sun.

As a husband and parent he was affectionate, loving and true. As a neighbor and friend, he tfaa courteous and accommodating, always doing some kind act or I deed to help and beneflt others, and while he now lies at rest in that blessed home above, his name will ever be reverenced by his large circle of friends, and especially by his brethren In the lodge. By his kind acts and deeds during life he has rightly earned the title of a man among men.

Therefore, be it resolved, that we, as a fraternmty, mourn the loss that we have sustained by the death of Brother Thomas H.-Blake, who departed this life on the '23rd day of March, A. D. 1889, at o'clock, a. m., that we ever treasure him In our memory even as his name is written on the infallible record on high.

Be it further resolved, that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family of our deceased brother, that they may see the high esteem in which he was held by the brethren of his lodge.

Furthermore be it resolved, that a copy of these I resolutions be written on record in this lodge, to stand as a memory of our departed brother.
