A party of Royal Arch Masons, of this city, will go to Effingham to-morrow to work the Royal Arch degree there.

About forty Knights of Pythias went to Clinton yesterday afternoon to institute a lodge of the Knights of Pythias there.

Mr. Frank Ader, representative in the recent legislature from Putnam county, was in the city yesterday and is busying himself to test the constitutionality of law taking the fees from the supreme court reporter, and passed by the last legislative body, so called.

Will put on sale 20 dozen boy's straw hats this week and will sell them for 20c apiece worth 35c. Schluer, the hatter.

Mr. A. Grafe went to Clay City jester day morning. Miss Augusta Kahn, of Paris, is visiting in the city.

Mr. George W. Faris will leave for Washington this afternoon. Miss Mayme Briggs left yesterday morning for Alton, 111., on a visit.

Mrs. I. B. Wilmington returned yesterday afternoon from a visit to friends in Ohio.

Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Shaw, of Mattoon, III., are in the city visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Sweeny.

Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Pugh returned yesterday from a pleasure trip to Lake Maxinkuckee.

Mr. Charles Hornung, of St. Louis who has been yisiting friends in this city, is ill at the residence of his brother, Mr. A. E. Hornung, of south Thirteenth-and-a-half Bbreet.

Conductor C. H. Arthur, of the Vandalia line, having recovered sufficiently from the injury sustained on the 4th of April, has gone to Michigan for a few days to visit old friends, and look after his farming and coal interests.
