WAsraseioH, D. C., April 12,10 p. m. Indications for twenty-four boon commencing at 7 a. m., Saturday, April 13: For Indiana: Rain, followed Saturday by fair, cooler, northerly winds.

CITY IN BRIEF.

The city treasurer's office is being repainted and re-papered. The gutters on Main street are being cleaned, and the street commissioner will clean the street as soon as there is sufficient rain fall.

Mr. John W. Ross, the brickmaker of the south part of the city, received serious injuries yesterday while jumping from a moving train at First and Main streets. He was assisted to his home, on south First street.

Our line of spring hats are in stock. Schluer, the hatter. Look in my window and see the line of spring ties I am selling for 50 cents. sp] Schluer, the hatter.

PERSONAL.

Mr. W. H. Hull, a farmer living south of the city, who was stricken with paralysis last weefc, is not expected to live.

Mr. M. J. Moreland went to Muncie yesterday. He will probably take an interest in

hiB

brother's business in that

city. Miss Katie Spengler was favored with a delightful surprise party, Thursday evening, in honor of her 14th birthday. Several nice presents were given and excellent refreshments were served.

I wish to get the saloonkeepers to organize themselves into a eociety or organization BO they can buy their liquor from manufacturers and do away with the wholeeale whisky men entirely, and, own themselves and be independent. I am in favor of starting it immediately and will spend money and time to ^ush it to a success, which I know it will be, as I speak from experience. That is the reason that Old Cobweb hall made a success.
