The Aged Poet Write! ia tmr of Cartels Fritaa Reforms. NEW YORK, April 11.—John G. Whittier, the venerable poet, has written the following letter to Mr. Wm. F. But the suppression of labor In prisons Is too small again for then to b* purchased by the transformaUon of prisons into mad-houses. I trust further reflection, and the knowledge of the dreadful consequences of the slow torture of brooding Idleness, will ere lone Induce them t« forego what must be a *ery trifling benefit at the best. Ryder'a new piece, "The Two Sisters," of which BO much has been said, will be presented at Naylor's this evening and to-morrow evening. "The Two Sisters," like the "Old Homestead," is said to be as fresh and natural as any play ever written. It is but fair to the public to aay that Denman Thompson is not with the company. Many persona have been led to think he was, by the various announcements.

Mr. Booth to Rejoin the Company. DETROIT, April 11.—Lawrence Barrett announced from the stage of the Detroit Opera house, to-night, that Mr. Booth will rejoin the company at Cleveland Monday next. :4

Piles are among the moet painful and annoying of disorders. The disease is of common occurrence, and to effect a cure should be promptly treated by proper remedies. There is nothing more suitable by its wonderful curative action than Pond's Extract Ointment, in which the medicinal virtues of Pond's Extract, which are very valuable in the above complaint, are in a state of great concentration. It is advisable in every instance, however, to use both the Ex tract and Ointment. Ask for and be sure you get the right articles.

Serving th« Public.

The people who live in Terre Haute and in Vigo county, are respectfully reminded that the veteran shoe merchant, Mr. A. H. Boegeman, is still serving the public with the best footwear that can be obtained in this couatnr. Mr. Boegeman has never attempted to drain the Pacific nor to upset the universe, but in a quiet sort of way he takes the greatest pains to secure for his customers the most reliable goods, and then to again accommodate them by selling at good old-fashioned low prices. The writer was in at Mr. Boegeman's store, at 104 south Fourth street, a day or two since, and learned that he is carrying the moet complete stock this season he has ever shown, and is constantly inaugurating "bargain" sales, and it was apparent that the people were taking advantage of the "offerings," as there was no lack of buyers. City and 'country people will find it [worth the while to step into Mr. Boegeman's establishment and inveeti gate the goods and prices.

The Verdict Unanomous.

W. D. Suit, druggist, Bippus Ind. testifies: "I can reccommend Electric Bitters as the very best remedy. Every bottle sold

given relief in every case.

One man took six bottles, and was cured of rheumatism of ten years' standing." Abraham Hare, druggist, Bellville Ohio, affirms: "The best selling medicine I have ever handled in my twenty years' experience, is Electric Bitters." Thousands of others have added their testimony, so that the verdict is unanimous that Electric Bitters do cure all diseases of the liver, kidneys or. blood. Only a half dollar a bottle at W. C. Buntin's drug Btore.

A Woman's Discovery.

"Another wonderful discovery has been made and that too by a lady in this county. Disease fastened its clutches upon her and for seven years she withstood its severe tests, but her vital organs were undermined and death seemed imminent. For three months she coughed incessantly and could not sleep. She bought of us a bottle of Dr. King's New Discovery for consumption and was BO much relieved on taking first dose that she slept all night and with one bottle has been miraculously cured. Her name is Mrs. Luther Lutz." Thus write W. C. Hamrick & Co., of Shelby, N. C.—Get a free trial bottle at W. C. Buntin's prug store.
