CITY in BUST
Our Fifth street paper dealers, Hughes & IjewiBr are doing a large amount of paper hanging. One of the prettiest jobs in the city are the double parlora just finished for Henry Miller, at his residence on south Fifth street.
PERSONAL.
Mrs. Dr. Wilson, of Paris, is in the cny visiting with relatives. Misses Hat tie and Emma Frank are visiting with friends in Fort Wayne.
Messrs. Willis Hedges and J. N. Frist, of Clinton, were in the city Friday. The Misses Lambert, of Clinton, will return home to-day after visiting in the city for a week.
Prof. Oakar Duehweg will give a. reception to the members of his classes and friends at Germania on Monday evening, April 15.
Mr. G. B. Hiser, of the Parke County News at Bridgeton, Ind., was in the city Tuesday on his way to Anderson, Ind. He has left the Parke County News, and will accept a position on the Brazil Daily Miner in a few weeks.
The Paige dancing club spent a very delightful evening at Bindley hall Friday. The programme of dances were varied, and with liberal intermissions between the numbers (he meeting was made one of the social successes in the club's history.
Frank Pratt erected a granite monument last week at the grave of the late Thomas P. Murray, in„\Voodlavm cemetery.
Know thyself by "calling on Prof Storey, the great trance medium. You will find him a gentleman of culture, highly educated, refind and polite. Fee 50c, $1 and 82. His parlors are 230. Sixth street, corner Eagle.
The finer feelings should of course be cultivated, but not to the entire neglect of the hone9t sentiments sometimes classed as he "grosser sort." Speak mg of grocers, E. R. Wright & Co. are naturally brought to mind. Fresh vegetables and fruits, and only the best staples are always carried by this wellknown house.
It is claimed that an optician in New York City has invented a pair of Spectacles by which poor mortals can see the power and virtues of the apostles in their successors. A wonderful inven tion, indeed. Would it net be a good idea to introduce them all over the country, so that all men can see the lurking and deleterious poison hidden in the baneful liquors interfered «ith by wholesale dealers. You can't bother Peter N. Staff on this question, the pro prieter of Cobweb Hall.
Messrs. Goodman & Hirschler, the veteran clothiers and merchant tailors, have always taken the lead in their line of trade, and, from appearances, it is likely they will always keep in the van. During the past week they were rushed with orders in their merchant tailoring department, and many were the magnificent suits which were carried from their establishment. They have never employed other than the best workmen, nor sold aoy but the best quality of goods, hence it is easy to Bee why they are so popular with the public. Their general line of clothing embraces all the nobby styles.
Farm Notes.
It improves bran to scald it before feeding it to stock. March winds do more harm to stock than the cold of January.
Feed no corn to stock at the beginning of warm weather. It will not pay. When scours occur in a herd of hogs give them burnt corn or charcoal once a day.
One cause of trouble with churning (provided the temperature of the cream is right) is too much milk with the cream.
Pure fresh water for stock must be the first essential from now on. Drinking from mud puddles and other filthy places will cause disease.
For vermin on sheep use snuff or very fine tobacco. Dipping sheep is cruel, and should never be practised except when all other modes fail.
Mr. Griffith, the shoe king, reports jhe arrival of more fancy slippers. The colored styles are indeed beautiful and attract attention. Good shoes, of course, are not to be compared with trash. Shoddy goods are not found in his store, none but strictly honest work and prices reasonable. Call at No. 32 south Fourth street.

ONLY A TRUNK,
But the prettiest one ever made is the new style, called the "President," which is manufactured by Dickhout, the veteran trunk man, at 646 Main street. It is covered with French duck, in a variety of stripes, all modest in design, and making beyond doubt the handsomest trunk imaginable. The material iB new throughout, and the peculiar Bhape is entirely original with Mr. Dickhout. He also makes another new style called the "Bride." It has strong leather corners, canvas covered, beautiful trimmings and is very light.
OPENING.
Wednesday and Thursday, april 10th and 11th, Miss Oldham will show the largest and choicest assortment of trimmed hats and bonnets ever shown in this city. Miss Pendergrast, of New York City, has entire charge of the trim-ming-room, and her work and style is unsurpassed. All invited. No cards.
